I know people get irritated with me because I tend to harp on tough rules about using barrel blocking devices and being careful with high-pressure tanks. Accidents will happen but we have to take our responsibility to do everything in our power to enforce safe conduct. That's why we need to make it universal throughout PB that anyone who fails to use barrel socks at the appropriate time or who throws their marker must pay a steep penalty.

Paintball Gun Death

February 16, 2004

PLACERVILLE -- A woman was killed Monday when she was struck in the head with a cartridge from a paintball gun, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Dept.

The freak accident happened in the area of Mosquito Road in El Dorado County. Sheriff's Dept. officials tell FOX40 News someone was using a paintball gun and the cartirdge on the back of the gun somehow malfunctioned. It popped off the gun and became a projectile, flying through the air and striking a woman who was walking nearby. She was hit in the head and died.

There's no word yet on any potential charges against the person using the paintball gun.

so what came off the gun? what do they mean by cartridge? I gather its not a paintball as it says it came off the back off the gun.
Maybe an air fitting?

It sounds like one of those co2 canisters everyone used to use years ago, when we all had pumps. 4 - 5 inches long and about 3/4 inch diameter.

Blimey!!!!

What can be done about this sorta thing, we don't lock tite cylinders to our regs cos the cylinders fail their next test, C02 bottles aern't loctited (usually)

how about this solution (only applicable to new cylinders that will incorporate this design)

Y not use a woodruff key to secure the valve to the bottle, thereby preventing it from turning without the key being removed.

Now i know that this ain't a solution to the 10000000's of cylinders out there but maybe could be a future one

i think about a simple solution to the 100000000's that are already in use
