Ok, I've just tried to list an item on Ebay, but for some reason it'll no longer allow me as it states i need to add a paypal value or some nonsense, and is requesting me to set-up an account.

Now years ago when I did it, I had a bad experience, and never intend to use it (paypal) again, however if I can't list the items I want to sell, then it seems like I'm going to be forced to submit my bank details online, in a day and age of scammers and fraud, just to sell items on Ebay.....

Was interested if anyone else has been faced with this dilema.

It is a new rule they have introdued , this should help you;)

Thank you for your email about the message you received saying you must
offer PayPal on your item(s).

As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce fraud and protect both buyers
and sellers on eBay.co.uk, sellers must offer PayPal as a payment option
or the sole payment method on certain items.

PayPal must be offered as a payment option in these cases:

1) Sellers with a Feedback score of less than 100
2) Sellers with more than 5% dissatisfied customers in the last 30 days
3) Sellers listing an item in these categories:
- Video Games
- Health & Beauty
- Mobile & Home Phones
- Computers
- Consumer Electronics
- Jewellery & Watches

PayPal must be the sole payment method offered in these cases:

1) Sellers using a 1-day listing format
2) Sellers listing in these categories:
- Video Games > Consoles
- Consumer Electronics > MP3 Players
- Computing > Software
- Wholesale & Job Lots > Mobile & Home Phones
- Business, Office & Industrial > Industrial Supply/ MRO

Here's what you can do now:

If you've been asked to add PayPal as a payment method, but you don't
have a PayPal account, go to www.paypal.co.uk and click "Sign Up".

To learn more about how PayPal protects both buyers and sellers, copy
this link into a new browser window:

We know that you time is valuable so we appreciate you taking a moment
to clarify this matter with us.

Kind regards,

Yeah but I don't find it a problem as I prefer Paypal anyhow.
If you want I will list your item for you.

I dont see the problem with paypal, I have been using it for several years with ebay, p8ntballer forums, american websites and a few others and have always found it easy, and have Never had any problems. I did need some money back after christmas for something I had bought and between them and my credit card was all resolved no problems.

Only issue I do have is the money that take from me for each transaction, theiving baskets !!!!!!

Yeah, the fees are kinda cheeky but at the end of day, its a small price to pay for fraud pretection (not that much is saved with banks losing information anyway).
