OK so these are not new and i usually just delete them, but twice in 4 days I've received an e-mail allegedly from paypal informing me of suspicious activity on my account:
PayPal

Notification of Limited Account Access.

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regarding your account.

We determined someone may have tried to access your PayPal account without your permission. For your protection, we have limited your account access.

For your protection, we have limited access to your account until additional security measures can be completed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Faillure to verify your informations and security questions before 72 hours may result in suspension of your account.

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. We apologize for any inconvenience.

To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used to make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution Center. If, after reviewing your account information, you seek further clarification regarding your account access, please contact PayPal by visiting the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us".

If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to temporary suspend your account.

Please do not reply to this e-mail. Mail sent to this address cannot be answered. For assistance, log in to your PayPal account and choose the "Help" link in the footer of any page.

To receive email notifications in plain text instead of HTML, update your preferences here.
Which then leads you to an official looking paypal login screen but if you look at the web address there is nothing to do with paypal on there
"DON'T PUT ANY DETAILS INTO THIS LINK"

It all looks very real and if you do log on you are met with a request to verify you are yourself by entering in your bank and credit card details again and hey presto you've been scammed.

I contacted Paypal through the normal and "secure" website and they gave me this response:

ALWAYS be suspicious of e-mails about bank accounts and money if they contain spelling mistakes or grammatical errors.
Some examples from the mail you got include:

"Faillure to verify your informations and security questions"

"to temporary suspend"

"We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter."

It reeks of scam.

Cheers for highlighting it anyway, i'm sure there would be some people who'd happily type away all their money with no thought in between

If I ever get anything like that, I log into paypal by typing it in myself then check to see if there is any notifications.

Off topic but eBay sent me a free £10 today for being a star member, yay.

Never reply to anything that comes over on email asking you to log in. Simply go yourself to the log in page (i.e. Don't follow the link on the email) and see what's what. Simple rule, would you give your pin number to someone on the phone? If you answer yes to this then please just get a gun and shoot yourself, the gene pool will thank you for it.

Nige the message you're getting is because you're reaching your paypal limit. You need to verify yourself/your account and you will then be untroubled, get on with it before you need to pay something quick as it can become a pain in the arse. Make sure of course you navigate to paypal of your own accord, then verify your account.
