I dont know if their has been a thread on this already (always seems I run late on these things).
While I was watching TV last night newsnight came on, during the introduction to the program it showed part of the Seattle anti capatalism riots, nothing to new about that. But it did show a group of police riding into a crowd on some kind of armoured vehicle, 1/2 of the officers were armed with paintball markers. According to a few things I found police where firing paintballs into crowds to get them to go away.
The media constantly critise paintball for being an unsafe sport, while the police practise long balling on crowds (either that or they wanted to train a team for the Seattle Am tourny)

Hey, Equus, I saw a show a while back about prisons and such, and one of the weapons they use against rioters is a gelatin ball with stinky stuff in it. They shoot the pellets out of paintball guns, yeah, I laughed pretty hard at that one. If there's a prison riot and I'm a guard, I'd probably want something more than stinky pellets. People were just tryng to come up with non-lethal solutions for those kind of situations. Anyway, what I was getting at was that perhaps the cops were shooting those little stinky pellets at the crowd, and not paintballs. Ya' think?

i saw like a 20/20 about it and there actualy paintballs with pepperspray in em.

Well, surely that would be more effective. I guess the ultimate deterrent would be shooting them directly in the eye with it.

AGD US work closely with the military and police one of their projects is perfect circle paintballs, perfect consistency due to the plastic shell but v.expensive the advantage is u can fill them with pepper spray for instance.

I saw program on Sky ages ago and is was bout people with odd jobs (stoooooopid jobs more like!) one guy was the human test for things like C.S gas, pepperpray etc. this he actually volunteered for!!!

Basically in this program they were testing 'new' crowd control weapon, this basically was a Tippmann M98 with a differents hopper full of balls filled with all kinds of nasty stuff. . . . . so what was his job I hear you cry!!!

Well this goon stood about 10ft from the guy with the Tippman, with padding on and a mask (for safety!!!) then was shot with all the different balls of nasty stuff, one at a time and he then would generally collapse in a heap gagging and throwing up etc and would descibe the different effects that each nasty ingredient had on him!!!!!

Pretty bizarre stuff i can tell ya!! And from the effects I saw there you certainly wouldn't want be on the recieving end of it!!!!!

Imagine getting a burst!!!!!!!

As much as you would hope to think it was Jackass, but it wasn't!!

It was quite a serious program this guy actually did it as volunteer work!!!! Bloody barmy!

It's a good year or more ago when it was on!
