hey just a simple question really
how many paintballs would you ussally need in game/day of games?

i find on a punter day i can servive on a 1000 but i'm wondering how much is good to get in other game senarios like

walk on day
sup air game/ tornament and the like
or anyother setting

just so i can get a rough idea of how much to get/cost

thanks

when we played xball we used 14 boxes,
and when we play 5 man usually about 5 or 6 cases between us.

like a whole days of play.
and yeh boxes of 2000. and the overall price will depend on the grade of paint you get, higher the grade the more it costs etc.
and on avarage it costs us each at a tournament about £65

plurgh,

I think you'll find the prices you pay for paint for walkons, tournaments and scenarios are generally less than those of a punter site.

Generally, on a punter day the 'game fee' is minimal and includes a few paintballs, the site operators cover the costs of running the site, paying the staff and marshals etc. from the mark-up they make on paint, hence the price usually being £100 or so a box of 2000.

Outside of the punter site you can expect to pay something like £25 for reasonable quality paint to £50 for the best (depending on the event/supplier/location) and less for training/white box paint.

Individual paint consumption depends on the format and player style, so actual figures are purely subjective.

also remember in a tournament you will tend to pay for paint as a team, regardless of who shoots how much.

front players tend to use very little paint compared to the backs how are keeping up a constant stream. how many players would do their jobs properly at the back if they had to pay for the paint they shot themselves? how well would they take it if they were paying 5 times more than their teammate, simply because they played a different position.

it may seem unjust that the guy at the front pays for some of the paint shot by the guy behind him, but how well would that front player do without the stream of paint keeping the opposition in check?

that's why you'll tend to see teams saying "we used x number of boxes" rather than "i used..."

Pooling the paint cost is the only fair way for a tournament, the back players should be laying down paint to keep the front players in the game, whilst the front should, if not getting Gs themselves, be causing enough of a distraction for the other team to take their eye's/gun's off the back players.

that makes sense. thanks alot.
i think really i'll only be able to play with 3 man teams so on a 3 man would the paint used stay the same as a 5 man team or would it go down?
what about a walkon aswell?

To answer the gentlemans question...

Walk on Day - I average between a box and 2 boxes depending on how I get on and how trigger happy I am. Have been known to do 3.5 boxes but THAT was a mad day.

Sup air game/ tornament and the like - My last team we did team paint but it worked out about a box and a half for 5 man and nearly two boxes for x-ball lite.

Or another setting - Big Game for example. Budgeted for 3 boxes used just over two. Having a 20 minute walk just to gas and pot up slows down your paint useage a little.

To add to the posts above, although I agree with the team paint philosophy, with this years 5 man format the difference between back and front players has got a but muddied. In most teams I've seen there is not always now a strict front or back and so the paint use per player has averaged out a little.
