Well it is happening again...ok not here but the results if against "could" happen cause problems here.

http://www.petitiononline.com/pb101/petition.html

This is what happens when the selling of paintball equipment is given to the mass market, and I know we have all said time and time again that paintball needs exposure to get "sports" designation, get on TV, get outside industry sponsorship. Don't feel this is just an "american problem" get involved ! There are certain parts of american society that want everything banned, Mothers of the Nation or something like that but there is a limit to what needs looking at or not....best guesses for the start of this is that "little jonny" was bought a marker by parents who didn't supervise him and either hurt someone, scared someone, or shot a sign up (where have we seen the last one before? ) or someone didn't like what was being sold on the shelf and the lack of instruction as to what was what (we had that conversation some time back about the lack of staff training for the sale of markers by "chain" stores).
I know we rant on about how there are certain leanings towards america on this forum despite the lack of americans who actually get involved on here...well that aside here's the time to show the Euro support.

really they aint trying to get paintball banned. they just want to get paintball guns under a law that hasn't been written yet. to be honest this might help paintballers because it could get some news coverage and so show the sport in a good light because they have mentioned how safety is important to us.

all they really want to do is emphasise the fact the paintball markers should be used only for paintball and nowt else.....fair play to em i say....

edit 2>>>>>>Actually i was right, there's another petition going on that wants to ban paintball. now i get it :D up with this petition :D!!!!!!!<<<<<

This one has been dragging on for a while, and is based on the fact that the City of New York want to prevent Sports Authority from selling certain colours of paintball markers (yes, any other colour is fine  ), under a city law. The law in question covers "toy guns", and is actually invalid because its definitions conflict directly with those in NY state law.

I don't know what the city officials are trying to achieve, but they must realize the pretty shaky legal ground they're on, because they've made no attempt to prevent any of the other paintball outlets in the NYC area from carrying right on selling their evil wares.

It all started with a complaint by a person to the city authorities that they were selling black replica guns which is illegal in New York. If they had been selling only coloured ones as stated in the law then they would not have a problem. The Markers in question were Tippmann, and we all know how close these replicate the real thing, and also Kingman's black spyders
