just got a renewal quote in for my site insurance. !!! are they taking the piss! it was nearly more than four times what i paid last year! i can see some smaller sites mat be tempted not to bother with insurance at those prices.
oh well just means another couple of £££ on the rental customer fee.:(

The problem is that people are so quick to sue nowadays.

It makes me wonder how we ever evolved as a species - imagine if our ancestors had fallen over everytime they tried to walk through a wood.

If you get yourself a good health and safety policy together and most importantly risk assess all your operations you may be able to demonstrate to the insurance company that you are actively trying to reduce/avoid accidents. If you can prove it with a good safety record you may get a reduction in your policy.

Remember??????

Red Hot

Let me explain somthing too you. Remember that incident on September 11th 2001? Well the twin towers held some of the biggest names in the insurance world. To give an example AON (1 of the biggest in the world) lost its whole office and they pay as an in service death benifit 7-10 times the employees annual salary. Now some of these guys were on over $1 million a year. So work it out! That is a lot of cash 1 company had too pay out to the brokers families.

This in turn then caused many insurance compaines too go down the pan. Now with everyone biting to get at Bin Laden no insurance comapny wants to take a risk (like paintball) on if they really don't have too. So you see they are being careful like any other bussiness does.

I had a guy look into Campaigns site insurance for 3 weeks. Now this guy insures bands and there equipment. He used too deal (just on the band side) with 45 companies, he now deals with 10! He tried everyone he knows of too get our insurance and he failed. If you have a quote from Perkins Slade then that my friend is about all there is. They have a policy set up especially for them.

Sorry to ramble on but just thought it might explain why things have gone through the roof!!!!

Hope all works out for you.

My site had this problem back in December. We have a fantastic safety record ( in 10 years as a paintball site we have had 0 recorded accidents ) And still, the company wanted to charge us 2 and a half times what we paid last year for the same policy!!!
The reasons they gave us for the increase are exactly what Mr Piper has quoted.
Anyhow! With a lot of hard work, we have found a reputable company that is now insuring us for half of what the other b*****ds were asking. I have looked into the fine print and it seems a better deal too, as we are covered for a lot more things now!
Any site operators who want the name and phone number can e-mail me and I will happily pass it on.

i'm all ready with perkins slade, have been for a few years now. they sent me out a questionare this time. and i had a covering letter for this year quote saying it was also based on my forcasted turnover. surely they cant base a premium on a companies turnover. if thats the case the campaigns insurance must have gone up like mad.

i was used to paying £600-700 a year for it, now the want £2,000+ for the same cover.

gogger post the phone number and name here so we can all have a look.

You are correct our insurance has gone through the roof. Yes it is based on turnover. But how else can an insurance company do it? Same as car insurance all goes on your previous years. Remember when you had no no claims? Then the next year it was cheaper. Same principle.
If you had a good year last year, that is our good fortune. If you have a bad year this year then next year it will be cheaper! I knwo what you are going too say and I don't agree with it either. But what else is open too us?

Blame Bin Laden. Not the insurance companies.

Hopefully we will find something else and if we do I will let you know. Hopefully you will do the same.

Take care mate
