It might have been covered before but I was thinking the other day about how many people play paintball around the world, and is it a global sport. We have teams all over Europe, Africa, USA, Russia and Australia. But you never hear about teams or paintball in Japan, china etc. I was thinking if it got big over there then surly the paintball market would burst right open because of the shear size of the countries and the buying power those countries would bring to the paintball community. It could see it benefiting everyone as prices could come down.

Anyway that was just what I was thinking, just thought I'd mention it.

I know there is a paintball site on one of the small islands off of Singapore. I don't know if it's still there but it was there in about 1996.

They have completley different rules on what markers they can use, i remember reading something about it a while back.

But yes, it is popular - just not 100% the same.

I also read somewhere that they have a ton of restrictions on operating pressures and compressed air tanks and that entry level markers operate 2 high in regards to their law so that might explain why its harder to become mainstream over there...

I'm in Dubai at the moment, there is a paintball place across the road from my hotel. I haven't been yet but we are going next friday.
Its a Sup air field on sand, its part of a theme park type place.
It was on the local TV channel the other night and they use Dye goggles and Tippman 98's from what I could tell.

The Dubai thing you saw is most likely games that were set up for the police in United Arab Emirates. Not training, mind you, but purely for entertainment and promotion of the sport.

This is supposed to be a way to get a foot in the door for much bigger possibilities in Dubai and UAE, maybe even in the Arabic world.

I know about this because I was invited to help set it up, but I just didn't have the time.
