Fellow paintballers,

I wish to conduct a study on the contents of various different types of paintball (for my final university project).

It appears that most paintballs are largely harmless to the environment.
I understand that this is not the case for all paintballs However. If anyone has any information that could help me find any previous studies, or suspects a particular brand to contain something harmful ( paintballs may be very brightly coloured or have an unusual smell for example) - I would be very grateful for your feedback!

Cheers All!

They all taste pretty poor dont they!
I belive most are made with a gelatin shell and a thixotropic vegetable dye fill.
I suppose a good test would be if any are particularily acidic or alkaline.
Also, try and find out if there are any sites that are deemed SSSI,
Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The people in the know would not let anything remotely dodgy near an SSSI.
Hope this helps.

Can't remember which company/companies made them, but there were some being made a couple of years ago that were banned from most tournaments as they burned the grass, plus there are a few that stain quite badly.
A good bet would be to contact Niall here - as the organiser of the biggest tournament in Europe he will know which type it was that they had to ban. The term "Evil fill" comes to mind (as of the type, not what people thought of it :D ).

Dodgy balls

Hmmm, not having much luck getting responses from manufacturers ... (apart from Diablo, Zap and Procaps) - these sources *appear* to be okay (in fact, their paintballs might even be considered nutritious ! )

But err - now when i want crap paint i can't find it!

'thixotropic vegetable dye ' !????
You got me with that one! ... what is it?

Oh, Liz?
Do you know where I can get hold of Niall ?

Cheers all!
