Paintball Commercalisim goes over the top, or more correctly...

...it goes on our feet. Let me explain.

I snowboard. (Yes, this is related.) Burton introduced a pair of "Snowboard performance socks" a few years ago. I looked at them more than a few times, hanging in the store. And, for the life of me, I could not figure out whay I shuold shell out the $15.00 to buy one pair of knee-length tube socks. I was reassured I needed them becasue they enhanced rider performance by inducing a "Forward Lean", and the dragon emblem on the top was "k3wL". Yep. A pair of SOCKS, less than a few millimeters thick, incuded a forward lean. I wrote it off as a tech sport gone awry and moved on.

I didn't think much of that until I saw these.

Yep. The DYE "Sock". And, the hype sez : Designed to work in tandem with your shoe, these playing socks will keep your feet happy all day long. Built with extra padding in pressure areas...

Umm, ok. So, tell me again. Will I be able to bunker "Foos" like LaSoya if I shell out $8 for a pair (ONE PAIR!!!) of socks? Will I be able to out-sprint my front guy unless he buys a pair too? If I go wiht the "Ankle sock" model, will that give me less ankle support than the "Crew" model? Can I get more bouncers from the embroydered logos?

Now what's TRULY funny in all this is the local store (the one 80 miles away) stocks these. And they've sold out of the last 3 batches they got in. And they're ordering more...

...Socks...

Yep. Paintball "socks" for the feet. Socks meant specifically for the game of paintball. And they don't even come wiht cool dragon logos. Yeah.... It's getting more than a little ridiculous out here...

i agree

with all the expensive oparts out there, you never know what to get.
no some parts and accessories are excellent things to have, my barrel condom from smart parts for example.
it works, and it drives my friends nuts.
double use.
now, in defense of the companies, they must make money, plus having a pair of socks that is specifically your paintball socks, would eliminate that annoying problem of getting bunkered with 1 white sock, and 1 purple due to the booze the night before or what not. Either way, if you want it, buy it.

I does seem a little over top - BUT, if they are more comfortable and keep your feet happy....

I don't really see much difference between having special socks for PB with more padding/support whatever - than all the other "specialty" socksmade for other sports - football, baseball and especially basketball. I also must admit that the basketball ones do make things feel better (haven't tried the others).

If I can get some help for my feet - which after some tournies in football cleats, are killing me, then 8 bucks ain't too much to pay.

goose

P.S. Still don't think they will help anyone shoot straighter tho'

its same with every brand...why buy nike-socks? adidas t-shirts? its the look and always the look. if you think its cool, then you just have to have 'em. if not, just dont buy'em, right? i for myself buy no-brand socks and underwear. on the other hand i like nike-air shoes and sweatshirts with brand-names on'em. on trousers i wont spent too much money, so mostly no brand-pants. its a question of what you like, where you set your priorities(spelled right?). its only starts to get annoying when people talk sh*t bout me wearing no dye or jt pants or something. but then...just go and shoot'em outta their clothes*gggg*. looks dont make a player.
