Whose got real life experience?

Adelaide Oz class markers as firearms. They took my evolution e blade . This was years ago and I chose the only state in Oz that do (others may have the same rules now)

I've flown to the US with my paintball stuff a few times now, all I did was let the airline know in advance.
I was told that it had to be non-operational - I took the battery out, and all was good. Didn't even get opened by customs.
