Original X7 random fire problem.

Hey guys!

I am really new at paintballing but I sure am hooked! The thing is, a friend of mine gave me his old Tippmann X7 (original, not Phenom) marker. I have never repaired a gun before, so I searched the internet for the owner`s manual and stuff. I saw some videos on how to do maintenance and basic lubing. So I took it all apart, cleaned it, lubed it, and put it back together SUCCESSFULLY! When I started testing it, single fire shots were OK, although sometimes it shot blanks. But when I switched to Full Auto the real random firing problem began. It was shooting like 2-3 balls and stops. Sometimes even less or sometimes a few more. Overall - random fire. I searched the internet again for a reasonable explanation, and I saw some people complaining that their Cyclon feeder froze with repeating fire. I removed the hopper, and I started firing it with no balls loaded. It fired perfectly, paddles were spinning freely and everything is OK, as long as there are no balls to randomly fire.
Really want to repair this gun, because it is really fun to shoot! Looking forward for any suggestions and help!

Thanks in advance!

look for the exploded diagram of the cyclone then dis assemble the cyclone and in the botton section beneath the base plate theres the almost oblong ratchet, theres a small noggin onit that the ram pushes against it to turn the cyclone when firing, this noggin had worn on my old A5 so had the same problem cycled fine when empty but was random weather it would turn or not when having paint in it,

cheap part to get hold of think Rap4uk do it for £1.95, or could get a basic tippman parts/spares/service kit form most online pball shops.

Well, I think i have found the problem.

So maybe a new ratchet will fix my problem?

give it a good clean out plus its the small noggin that sits withing the teeth of the central shaft that can cause the problem, watch it while you press the manual feed lever and you'll see it move normally, place your finger in the cyclone paddles and if you gently push the manual feed you'lll see how easily it will slip i'll try n dig a photo of my old one out

not the best pic but you can see the noggin on mine has worn quite badly dont knot if this is same issue you having but might be, or the (im guessing) e-grip youve got the internals are dirty???

So I changed the ratchet, cleaned the whole cyclone and went to test it. I haven`t checked the internals of the Egrip, but it seems to be working fine, spins the paddles properly. First i loaded 5 balls (each paddle a ball) and I started firing single shots. First one was a blank (guess it was because the cyclone had not yet loaded a ball in the barrel). Second - third ones were ok too. The next one was a blank again. I oppened the hopper to check what was wrong and the thing is that the loaded balls were on the paddles on the far site from the barrel (it had to turn the cyclone a few times in order to load a ball). Same thing happened on Full auto when i loaded several balls. It shot like 10 balls in a row and then it fired a few blanks again, followed by another few balls. So I think somehow the paddles are not loading balls one after another and skipping a few loading cycles. Any ideas on what the problem might be?
