Open Xball safety!!

Whilst pitting for the Tigers over the weekend got to see some real madness going on in the pit areas.

It seems some of the American players just don't care about the barrel bag rules. Most where just unscrewing barrels and running back in, a few shots went off with enough impact to break paint at times, scary stuff!

The best one we saw, which I dont recommend is sticking your finger in the end of the barrel instead of a barrel bag!, like your not gonna take ya finger out after the first shot!


One other thing is whoever set up the chrony boxes is why the hell do you put them right inline with the staging area?, when you hear a gun doing 20+bps and turnaround to have a look, only to find the thing is pointing right at ya, again scary stuff!

Apart from that, was good to see some friends again and watch some quality ball.

And the judges did exactly.....?

Nothing - thats what they did - sweet f a!!

Mind you there were some other issues the judges didnt seem to have the heart (or technical know-how) to deal with either!!

Good to see all those old friends once more!!

do you not think the chrony pointing towards the netting (and maybe players setting up) is better than it pointing towards the public, and the car park? anywhere else players would complain its too far away.

Why do you just blindly defend the undefendable??

It was unnacceptable - full stop.

It can point toward whoever you like if you build netting high enough around it so that the player has to enter the station without ever being able to just stand up from chronoing and subsequently have the gun over the height of the protective netting

ya think it would be on peoples mind as recently one of dynasty got shot on the bridge of the nose whilst in the xball pit.

Your points here are well taken. I saw the screwed-off barrels later during the tournament and was either too busy or two knackered to get into it with them. That was because we were two pro refs short.

We also need to have the pit area in a netted in area.

Next year I'm going to make sure everyone understands that a barrel off is not the same as using a barrel sock.

Except for that our pit areas have been far safer than those on the other side of the Atlantic.

Hey, at least our pit areas are completely netted in as are the Xball chrono areas.

And there was cynical old me thinking that the barrels were being taken off the instant folks had been shot so that when the judge came over to say "I say old bean, I do believe that shocker has an NXL board in it, would sir mind if one had a little rip on it to be sure it doesn't", the player could say "sorry judge, gat's gone down, needs sorting, ya can't have a go".

(Like what almost happened on Thursday night when that back right gun on Philys finest got checked - player was in the middle of unscrewing the barrel.)
