20-1 to him...

Hey

I'm currently looking for a bottle for my ion and carvil brought round his stako yesterday so I could try it... It felt exactly the right weight but it was about 1.5" too long! I suggested getting a drop forward but he said maybe get a 'rail' or an 'oops'. Can anyone suggest a good oops that I could mount on my ion to bring the bottle forward that much? I've looked at it and if the bottle was screwed in just under the barrel it would be the perfect size!! Can anyone suggest an oops or a rail that would help? Any help or suggestions you can give would be amazing! No matter how dumb the idea sounds! Cheers in advance guys!

when you say too long, what do you mean... and you measured it?

for heaven's sake, dont get a drop, they do nothing (no they dont make you have a tighter profile), and a rail, yeh they can go forward, but a longer set up is better.

the Ion duckbill is about the right length, but if anything, get a rail, and put it backward to give you a longer setup

Ok, here goes......same old argument, same old answers, drops are bad, blah blah, fashion fopar, blah blah, go longer, blah blah, use a drop and burn in hell, blah blah blah.
First up i must point out that drops in general are bad and everytime people flame me for suggesting you use one, i agree with them.
But of course it's all a bunch of ar$e as only 80% of people fit the "standard" set up, and there is a 20% of the players out there that are younger, smaller, or just plain midget dimensions.
If you fall in to the 20% group then buy a drop but don't get a big one, there's no excuse for that.
if the bottle was screwed in just under the barrel
, eh? that's way to short.
What you need to do is use something like one of these
Rail: Forward about 3/4", no drop
http://store.customproducts.us/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=6&categoryID=2
Micro drop: Foreward 2", 3/4" drop
http://store.customproducts.us/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=7&categoryID=2
Don't whatever you do and go for one of these:

but he said maybe get a 'rail' or an 'oops'
You will need a rail "and" an Oops.
The rail is the bit pictured above and refers to a straight mounting plate.
Oops means On/Off Purge System, this will mount to your rail and your bottle will screw into it. Only use an Oops as this will allow you to safely remove your bottle as it vents the pressure stored in the guns lines allowing you to remove the bottle easily.
"BUT BEFORE YOU START CHECK WHAT TYPE OF BOTTLE YOU ARE GOING TO USE AS THEY COME IN SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT LENGHTS,AND IF THE BOTTLE YOU BOUGHT WAS ALREADY 2" SHORTER THAN THE STAKO, THEN YOU'VE WASTED MONEY ON DROPS"

My Ion i use a cp rail and a hybrid Oops, which is pushed as far foreward as the bottle will allow, this is too short for some team mates but it works for me:cool: :)
