On Saturday there were a lot of Softair players, I actually had a go at a guy for pointing a very realistic MP5 replica at me, to which his reply was "it is only airsoft"(But did point it at the ground the next time I passed, possibly my big gay sheriff outfit scared him). Later on, there were 3/4 guys firing these things at each other in the camp site area.

My point is, I take HUGE offense at someone pointing any weapon/toy/marker at me when I have no eye protection on. Were any of these guys part of the Paintball scene also? If so, should they not know better?

As skirmishers have to wear eye protection, you would think they would be more aware of the dangers.
I was unhappy that they were playing on a field that we had to walk past to get our paint. There were no signs to indicate that a live game was on or any protective netting.

I gotta jump in here and say I totally agree with you guys.. but don't lose perspective.. I have been to plenty of events before now where paintballers are equally poorly controlled and just as dangerous with their markers.. but that said... it was poor health and safety control in this case and I also fealt ill at ease (that's the polite version) walking up to the registration tent... especially when a hard plstic bead pinged off a car in front of me(An educated guess that that's what it was anyway). No idea where it came from but an easy guess... like Darkwerks said... no netting!!!

It was definately worth starting this thread as much as a general reminder to us all that our sport is fairly closely watched by those that would shut it down with glee, and incidents like this at the wrong time and place near the wrong person could do irreparable damage to what we try to safely enjoy.

Well done for starting the thread Silentbob

Its all about regulation, no matter what sport you play, there is always a minority of empty heads who dont care about the safety of themselves or those around them. Whether this is because they are brainless or outright idiots is irrelevant.

These people need weeding out so that the rest of us, who simply want to enjoy it can play on in safety without the threat of being shutdown.

personaly, if he'd have pointed his rifle/toy/stick at me, he'd have been fetching it from the bush behind him.

Totally agree.
None of us minds the odd bruise or five, or even the odd broken limb.
But to fire any kind of air powered projectile when people aren't wearing protection is just asking for someone to go blind.
It isn't 'soft' to follow rules when everyone agrees with them.
I know from all the games that I've been to that anyone behaving stupidly outside the playing area would be swiftly educated by the nearest person!
Good post from Mr Bob :D
