One pull- One shot

Inferno

Paintball Addict
Now that the dust has settled, the tempers have subsided, and a certain team’s name has regained some of its glory, I have a question. I’ve had this question in mind for a while, and with the forum straying from the topic of paintball, this seems like the time for an answer. In some other threads we covered the definition of cheating, the definition of full-auto, and whether a certain team cheated. I would like to circumvent these points this time around, but still approach the issue of markers that fire more than once per pull of the trigger.

No one actually commented on whether they were in favor of this rule. Do you feel that markers should be allowed to shoot say… five shots for every four pulls of the trigger? Unfortunately it would leave most cocker users at a disadvantage, since only those with electronic frames are not limited by the speed of their fingers (I’m writing with the assumption that the Sandridge and Racegrip frames allow more than one shot per pull). Would you be in favor of allowing teams shooting turbo with some sort of handicap? For example, if a team has people shooting in turbo mode, would you mind playing against them knowing that they will be docked some points (Using some standard formula that takes into account the amount of players using this mode)?

Let's not fight this time:D

Potential probs include...

Standardization. Such markers would be illegal in tha UK and certain other countries, so when teams went over to tha States they'd be at a disadvantage. Plus when US teams went over to tha UK they'd need to modify their guns if they were shooting as you outlined....need everyone on a level playing field really.

Robo deals with the self-same subject, from a slightly different angle, in PGI this month...

why would teams want to start a game knowing that if they win they will be penalised for using markers other than semi only mode.. if the benefits out wiegh any such penalties then I would think teams would object to playing against a team who were using other modes of fire than semi....

Tj has the point about all other modes of fire being illegal in the UK, and the need to try and keep a standard world wide.

It just seems like a situation where you take a gamble. If might make your game easier, but the penalty might non-standard players from dominating.

As for the point TJ brings up, I hadn't thought of that. My world-view can be kind of narrow at times:D

You could always put together a full auto tourney and see what happens. Might be fun, as long as everyone knows what they're getting into beforehand.

Why dont you guys just learn to paddle the trigger? Full auto/+modes are just reserved for unskilled people! If you learn how to paddle the trigger you will be able to fire 2/3 shots in the time most people can fire 1 (you can easily fire about 12+bps doing this) and many players can, enhanced modes are not needed, with some practise you can fire just as fast in true semi.

By paddleing do you mean feathering? If so surely it's better to put a few shots a second on target then wave the gun all over the place trying to feather the trigger hitting nothing. I've seen players doing it, pumping 13 bps all over the bunker and no-where near the player who returns one shot nice and square in the goggles.
