One for the Marshalls!!!

After every comp I've played and came home and had a check over the forums the next day. Now we all know about how much is talked about the marshalls after an event, eg: marshalls on a specific field etc. People sayin that the call was wrong or that the marshall should av done sumthin different.

Well wot i want to know is wot do the marshalls actually think!?
Like wot would the marshalls like to see teams doing rather then spittin the dummy, or goin ballistic @ a marshall durin a game.

Now i am no angel, I have been guilty of both of the above, so i can understand how frustrated u are when u start shoutin @ a marshall on the field.
Thing is though for instance if i shot a guy and he played on then after me tellin the marshall i had got em, he popped out and shot me. i would start shoutin cause I think that if i just go off and wait for it to be sorted after the game that it won't change the outcome of the game, where-as if the marshall seen me shot him he would have went off and i still would be in play and have an effect on the result of the game.

So wots the thing to do, am i wrong about sayin about if I went off then tried to get it sorted out it wouldn't?

I don't think marshalls get enough cred for wot they do, so a wanna kno wot u guys have to say on the way some teams play and wot u would like to see changed!

Drunk Marshals

At the last round of the Midlands Masters I marshalled I was accused of being drunk by some d!ck after his team got themselves wasted on the receiving end of a run-through. He's seen half a case of Stella on the floor by the marshals tent, put two and two together and decided I wasn't fit to be making calls on that field. It didn't seem to matter that I was down the other end from where it all happened and besides, everybody knows that it's Carlsberg that's probably the best lager in the world

The point is, and there is one, if players took even one millisecond to think how stupid they sound pointing the finger at the marshalls everytime something goes toes up there'd be a lot less moaning all round and games might even run to time. Sure we make mistakes but you players make more.

well i speak for all the SAD crew when i say that we always give 100% adn more importantly.....call it as we see it.

what players dont see in the heat of the moment is that if a marshal didnt see it, he cant call it. If a marshal gets to a player and he has a hit but is not seen playing on then we can pull him for playing on.

this winds a lot of ppl up if they see somebody breaking the rules. because they may be right but it is one word against another and we call what we see.

now the masters marshals are some of the best you will ever play on a field with. we run anyware in the region of 40 games a day on a field. thats 80 teams who could get a bad or missed call. and 99% of games go off with excelent sportsmanship and that is a credit to the players.

but no system is perfect. we relly do care that the players are paying to play and that we are their to oversee thier play....and the experience of judges varies and always will. just know that we are fair and try our best to do a good job for you. i wish more teams could try marshaling so they could see how hard it is and would apreciate good judging..

Cowboy- it's funny, as i wrote exactly the same response, then my laptop crashed. But i echo everything you said.

One more thing- just remember that the majority of marshal's are players too.

Well I think Cowboy & Matt has said it all, I have been marshalling / judging way back when dinosaurs were playing.

Nothing has changed over the last 16 years; you get the same bitching and moaning.

More and more teams are getting some form of sponsorship now days, I think the sponsors should make these team do some form of tournament marshalling!!

But what do I know, im a marshal
