Okay, so the UK X-ball team has been picked. And now.....?

I suppose this would be a question for Robbo, Beaker, or Ledz, but if anybody else knows, or if this sparks off questions of your own, feel free to drop in.
So, the players have been drafted, and all should be good to go. Or should it?
What I'd like to know, is how you guys are planning on turning the individually very skilled players into a killer squad. Do you have a number of training days planned, to make sure the guys gel as a team? And what would such a training day look like? What kind of drills would you be doing? All that stuff...
I understand if you don't want to 'publicise' this info, but I'm curious to know how you guys approach making a killer squad.

Regards,

Well, firstly we have put each and every player involved under 24/7 surveilance (sp?) We need to know they can be trusted, their phones are tapped, their families background checked. This thing is BIG and we need to know they'll be up for it.

Rumour has it that the Russians are going to snatch them at night, implant them with their Ruskicoms (tm) and release them back into the wild. The American's are worried, the Canadians know they're beaten and Magued is going to resort to taking 10 blonde poledancers to distract our guys.

Training will be endurance, 80 mile march under load at night chased by rabid dogs. Snapping will be done with Robbo next to them (bad enough don't you think!). Then we are going to hire out a football stadium, fill it with people shouting abuse and play a few 5 on 5's to simulate the pressure.

...... but if I told you all this I would have to kill you...... oh sh*t :)

Don't worry dude :)

Yes we will be having training, as much as we can fit in.

Drills will be there, but also a lot of games, using the coaches to spot mistakes, suggest improvements and hone roles.

But we had all sorts of plans for the trials which were blown out the water by the sheer quality of the players, so the training will probably be no different :)

Cool!
It'd be nice though if you guys can, at some time or other, let us in on 'the recipe'. It'd be a nice way to (try to) up the standards of paintball in general. Plus it saves me the hassle of coming up with training plans for my team. :D

PS I wasn't fully awake when I read your post, so when you said coaches, I was left wondering (for just a few seconds) how the hell you were going to use a couple of buses to sort players out...

Hey Bud, with the time we have available to us, there is not much we can do in changing people's playing patterns but what we can do is get them to think about different aspects of play and one of the most important at this level, is that of concentration.
All these guys are kick-ass players, natural talent just waiting to be honed into a cohesive unit but time is against us on that one but we'll do the best we can.
But the real questions lie beyond X-Ball ......:)
Should be fun !

Many thanks for the offer Jinxy but all training from now on is going to be in-house, that way I can get the guys to concentrate 100% on what I am saying rather than on what you lot are doing :)
Cheers
