As you are aware we asked a few weeks ago for people to register their interest in playing in the team that will represent the Federation and more importantly the United Kingdom in the EPBF Youth Cup happening in Paris later this year.

I'll apologise for what appears to be a slightly delayed response to the initial thread but we've had a lot of sorting out to do. Finally all the phone calls are made, agreements secured etc, so we can confirm the details of the Open Training Session.

We have had a very good response to the original post and each one of you that registered will receive the details in an email shortly, but here they are for anyone to find to ensure that information is out in the open. If you haven't registered and still wish to participate then you may, just send markie an email by clicking HERE so we can confirm numbers. Cut off is Thursday.

As you know there is no real funding for this team and despite forever being promised one, there is no such thing as a free lunch in paintball so there is a charge for this session. What we have done is secured a discount on paintballs, the venue etc to try and keep the costs down to you as a player. The good news is that we have secured a cash back deal on the paint which means for every case purchased at the event we make a small profit to help fund Team GB's paint bill in Paris. Rich Harris has also kindly donated part of the walk on fee for exactly the same reason. So thanks in advance to everybody that was involved in that.

I should also add that the Coaches & Organisation from Team GB provide their time free of charge and pay their own travel expenses.

The FED / EPBF approved open Open Training Session for the Youth Cup, will take place as originally stated on 6th & 7th August 2011

VENUE: National Paintball Centre - Home of the CPPS...

National Paintball Centre
South Staffordshire College
Penkridge
Staffordshire
ST19 5PH

PRICE: £65 which includes your green fee and two boxes of branded paintballs.

Extra paint is available at £23.50 per box. Paint usage will vary by player but you should budget for up to two more boxes.

START TIME - arrival at 9am - to be ready to play by 10am Saturday.

Camping is available on site for free and Rich is planning a barbecue on Saturday night weather permitting for those that are interested.

Now for more important stuff.

It will be an intensive weekend and expect to be tested to the full by the coaching team. Every player will train & play both days to ensure you get the most out of your time spent. Markie, Twizz and myself will be on site all weekend as will a number of players and coaches from various high level teams in the UK. We will also have some of the European Champion UK National Team in attendance to lend a hand with all aspects of the weekend. So even if you do not make the squad this time round you will learn a great deal and come away a better player.

Age Limit Rules

Even though originally it was communicated that players had to be over 16, there is no lower age limit for the EPBF Youth Cup. However if you are under that age to take part in the event you will need to have your parents sign an EBPF Authority / Disclaimer. It would also be expected that your parents or legal guardian travel to Paris with you.

Upper Age limit is 19, but it is caped at persons born in the year 1992. We know that this precludes some people that are still 19 at the date of the event but them is the rules set by the EPBF and not us.

More info on the event itself can be found here: http://www.epbf.info/

Day 1 over and as the Dawn breaks on day two the lil guys don't know that yesterday's torture was just a warm up for today's hell!!

Everyone yesterday trained well and listened to what was being said. Everyone learned a lot and you could see how tired they were as we broke at 4.45 after a very short fitness session and cool down.

Day two......

Day two has finished and Markie and I would like to thank everyone who turned up for this training session. Almost everyone listened to everything we were saying and those that didn't initially started to towards the end of today (didn't they Sam!!).

A few chaffing knee pads here & there and lots of welts later it was clear that everybody's game had improved in that short time that we had together. I think the jousting and one step helped with that today.

So what happens now - well Markie and I will get together with Twizz to deliberate over what we saw from ALL of you. As I said we are going to pick ten people and two reserves for the roster of 12 that is allowed. These people will be invited to a team training session on the Saturday before the next CPPS. It may be that we put a further session together, time and people dependent of course, but at the moment it is one session only.

What we have all agreed today is that we will post the team list up on these forums and also the official Facebook page by Friday of this week.

So once again well done to everyone, thanks for giving us your all and also for listening. Thanks to all the parents that came to help and pit. Thanks to Rich at The National Paintball Centre / CPPS, to Joe & co for keeping everyone's fluids replenished and also to Jason Cahill for helping me out on Saturday with the exercises.

Well done everyone and don't forget to take those exercises we gave you on Saturday and start using them regularly, they will help build your core muscles whilst keeping you agile. yes that means more planks people!!
