Saw over on pbnation that somebody had found the NXL rosters for the World Cup.

Seems once more that a lack of roster control in the Major Leagues makes a farce of what they are attempting.

Examples given...

Lasoya playing with Baltimore Trauma

Ollie Lang, Ryan Greenspan, Mapp Chimm, & Brandon Mayo playing for All Americans

http://www.nxlpaintball.com

Farce or fair play?

Lasoya to Trauma makes sense cos of tha Richmond tie-in...I guess his NXL ban is up now? If so, I don't see that anyone did anything wrong there.

Similarly, those other guys don't play NXL, so they are effectively free drafts.

It's fair, cos it's by tha rules.

It's also a farce though, because Philly now has effectively a whole new X-squad for tha Cup. Odds on Philly turning round a poor season and winning tha Cup musta suddenly been slashed...

Quincy Boyes is on Oakland too, thought he'd gone to Dynasty or are sponsors turning a blind eye? or are there 2 Quincy's

Also wonder if they all can play in Open X at the same event, and whether any scheduling favours have been done.

If it's a joke I'm not laughing

Actually last week's rumor had Lasoya playing for Shock...

League rules do exist regarding rosters and I find it hard to believe--though not impossible--that such manuevers have been allowed to go through.
We were actually discussing the Lasoya thing briefly at last practice because the way it should work is the lowest ranking teams should have right of first refusal but--

I have yet to see a pball league that wasn't, shall we say, flexible.

That said I'll see if I can find out something one way or the other and let you know.

O'tay, kids. Here's the deal--I think. There does not appear to be any regulation about locking rosters at any time during the season so padding rosters for what are essentially the play-offs is apparently legal.
Any player not in the NXL system is not subject to NXL rules about transfers, etc. so packing Dynarats on Philly is a-ok. (What happens scheduling wise later in the week when both teams are playing is just coincidental no doubt cus the PSP and NXL aren't associated in any way, shape or form, they just share space at events.)
Re: Lasoya to Baltimore. Miami may or may not have retained rights after the suspension period so at most Trauma would have had to cut some deal with Miami.
Re: other players mentioned. All of them are rostered on the teams that last held their rights so without locking rosters none of the moves are contrary to league rules.

Either way you play who they put in front of you. Joke or not.

JP has been with them permanently since NEO.
I think this is bull**** personally. Philly does not have the skill to win Cup, so instead of practicing harder or getting new talent, they simply borrow the best players in the world.

A Professional team with the best players in the world? What a tragedy!

We all know the NXL regular season is an excercise in..... keeping paint encapsulation machine techs employed? So why it surprises anyone when it plays out like the regular season was, in fact, an excercise in futility, is beyond me.

This is just a natural consequence of the sport becoming more professional. If Philly's competition didn't want Philly picking up these players, they should have picked them up themselves. If the NXL wants teams to have substantially the same rosters all season, they should make the regular season count for something.

Getting mad that Professional teams try and get the best players they can for the games that matter is like getting mad at your car for running out of gas because you didn't stop to fill up the tank.

Also what happens to Dynasty if they happen to now not win 1st place Div 1 because a few decent players have gone to Philly? I know they have an uber strong team anyways, but what if they are pipped at the post? Surely Dynasty want to win Div 1?

And Ollie Lang in a shirt thats not Dynasty.......this I gotta see. Pity its not a Boston Red shirt though.... :)

Actually Dynasty want to win Open Xball. No real potential conflict till end of week as Open play won't start until Thursday or Friday at the earliest. (An SP rep has posted elsewhere that Dynakids are only on roster in case something happens to a regular and they won't play unless someone is injured. (Now the odds of Darryl ordering someone to step in front of a truck ... ?) :D

Chitown--don't be silly. All real pro leagues have clear deadlines for trades and require rosters be locked by a certain point in the season.
