Official note SC 'Russian Legion'

"After a small pause, which we took to determine future development plans of our Club, I am glad to announce that yesterday night negotiations with the NXL management about our Club's accession to this professional league were completed successfully in New York. Mr. Dmitri I. Dubograev, Esq., International Legal Counsels PLLC, represented our interests during these negotiations.
Starting from the next season, the team will perform in the NXL under the name of "Boston Red Legion".
In addition to that, we plan to take part in a number of tournaments of the Millennium Series and NPPL under the name of "Russian legion".
Next week, we shall post a more detailed description of our plans on our site and carry out the analysis of the team's performance during the season of 2004.
We appreciate the support of all our fans!!!"

Kinda makes a bit of sense, with entourage missing out on a 2005 Pro slot in the NPPL, the 'spare' players could be used bolster ME. It's that or sit around twidling their thumbs between NPPLs.

So much for the ESPN ratings to decide the faith of NXL in 2005.

I guess there must be some money flowing into the NXL or guaranteed TV exposure, as I don't see why Dynasty would bother with it otherwise. Unless Smart Parts forced them to do so...

Also, even if NXL has been RL's goal, there must be some things that convinced them that the money spent was a good move.

Makes the NXL much more interesting suddenly

You say 'more' interesting, as though it was actually interesting in the first place. Or it could have been a closed league with minimal outside exposure due to draconian restrictions played by teams from a handful of sponsors with players that weren't playing for money or any tangible benefit other than a title.

Or did I read you wrong ;)

Sh*t, I sound like Baca.

Well, it looks like the Legion have just kept the NXL going for another year... With the amount they would have been made to pay, the NXL won't need T.V!!!

I hope for Sergy's sake that his sources on the inside have been totally straight with him..

It's a very smart move by the Russians - I agree the timing of the Dynasty thing, if true, is odd - but it was only a matter of time.
