The end of the fantastic 2006 season is upon us. In just over two weeks time, we'll have the final results in and the winners and loosers will be decided.
The Rankings after Rounds 9 and 10 have been updated on the www.nspl.co.uk web site. And here is the story as we approach the final regional rounds in Ashford on the 12th November and Bristol on the 19th...
In Division one, just 65 points seperate Stealers Am and East Coast Irritant from the top position and the title of NSPL 2006 Overall Winners. Ashford is sure to be an exciting battle for these two talented teams and who knows, one of them may also decide to play Bristol in a bid to bag those vital extra points. At the bottom of the table, the recently inactive Basingstoke Tsunami and London HPG Factory Team both face relegation, but will we see them return for the last couple of events in a bid to secure a division one spot for 2007? If they do, both De Novo and South Coast Stealers need to beware as they are sitting just above the relegation zone.
Division two sees Outrage UK and Maidenhead Trauma battling for the top spot - another interesting confrontation scheduled for Ashford maybe? Two teams sat in the relegation zone that really shouldn't be there at the moment are Basic and London Impact UK. Hopefully we will see them at the final rounds in order to stay in Div 2 for 2007, though I'm sure London Halloween will be fighting to stay up as well.
In Division three, Portsmouth Halloween are running away with the it, almost certainly gauranteed their 1st place finish. Cardiff XM7 would have to pull something amazing out of their bag of tricks to take that top spot from them now. The relegation zone in Div 3 looks very busy and it is anyones guess who will be going down to Div 4 as the dust settles after Round 12. Remember, those teams having played only one event will be discounted in the end of season rankings.
Finally, in Division 4, Blitzkreig Weymouth have dominated all season and nothing can take them out of top position now with a maximum of an extra 1600 points only being available to Demolition Squad Worthing sitting in second place. However, their promotion is severly threatened by the talented Wycombe APEs currently snapping at their heals in third.
It's an interested end to the season and we're hoping that all the teams will get involved in the final battles of 2006 to give us an exciting finish to what has been a very successful and enjoyable year for the NSPL and its participating teams.
Registration is now open for Rounds 11 and 12 on the www.nspl.co.uk web site. Or you can call 0845 370 3 666 to book your team in via the phone. Don't delay, Round 11 is next weekend and Round 12 the week after.
See you on the other side of what is bound to be a bloody battlefield...
