Well, it certainly was a cold one, but a great event to finish off the first NSPL (SE) series! Despite the freezing temperatures, there were plenty of smiling faces and the atmosphere was very friendly - exactly what the NSPL is all about. Thank you to all the teams that braved the weather and conducted themselves like true sportsmen... its great to see you all getting along so well.

A couple more thank you's are due before I provide the results. In particular, Ambush Paintball deserve all of our gratitude. Their hospitality was second to none and considering they stepped in to provide their venue at the last minute, Jim, Christine and Kitch bent over backwards (well, maybe not Kitch - I doubt he could manage that!) to ensure things ran smoothly. The fields held up well and I can whole heartedly recommend the venue for team training.

Also, thanks to all the refs. We had some very experience players judging on Sunday... although the judging was harsh, it was also consistent and they did a great job in the cold all day getting shot up with frezing cold paintballs. Thanks to each and every one of you.

Of course, thanks to the trade presence and sponsors; Sloth, Heaven, Powerball, NPS Europe, NatWest and Paintball Warehouse.

Finally, my biggest thanks goes out to a character many of you will know well. He's volunteered his services to help the NSPL (SE) get off the ground since day one. He's never asked for anything in return, has given up much of his time, and worked his ass off all season. Lindsey, you are an absolute diamond and I will never forget the generosity and help you have provided this year. Enjoy your return to the playing field next season buddy - you deserve it!

So, here are the results from the event...

Division A
=======
1st - Taunton Snatch - 639
2nd - California Redz - 633
3rd - Southampton Quake
4th - Redz Manic - 398
5th - Basingstoke Tsunami - 350
6th - Reign of Fire [wsm] - 278
7th - Alpha 1 HRF - 263

Division B

1st - Romford UKM2 - 646
2nd - Bournemouth Riptide - 545
3rd - Samurai - 519
4th - Maidenhead Traumam - 516
5th - Bracknell 7 - 288
6th - Basingstoke Tsunami Young Gunz - 241
7th - Southampton FX - 196 (congrats on the Max!)

The league standings will be updated within 24hrs. I'll post here as soon as they are up.

That's the first year of the new series over and as you all know, next season, we will be combining the SE and SW together to create one large, united Southern League.

If you're from the South and looking to play elsewhere, think again. Unite the South - play NSPL in 2006.

See you all there. :)

Cheers Syd for an excellent series, it's been one to remember...certainly look forward to seeing how it progresses next year when the ProTour comes to town!!!

As for Ambush - I hope you guys all enjoyed the venue, we (Quake) were a little worried that the fields were going to be a tad on the thin side but they seemed to play really well, and all in all, for the site's first tournament I think it was a complete success!

Lastly - big props to Snatch, you guys played some awesome ball on Sunday, and Redz - it's been a good season bashing heads with you guys all year (sorry about the first flag grab costing you 1st :p )

The league rankings for the South East have been updated and are available for your viewing pleasure on www.nspl.co.uk.

The following promotions and relegations apply for the 2006 season...

Promoted to the Pro Tour

Southampton Quake

Promoted to Division 1

California Redz
Taunton Snatch

Relegated to Division 2

DOA Darkside

Promoted to Division 2

Bournemouth Riptide
Basingstoke Tsunami Young Gunz

Relegated to Division 3

London Impact UK
Bracknell 7

Promoted to Division 3

Romford UKM2
Newbury Anxiety

Relegated to Division 4

None

I have decided not to relegate two teams from Div 3 to Div 4. The relegations just would not make sense and would place Irritant and Redz Manic into a division far below their abilities for the 2006 season.

Congratulations to all the teams who have received promotion, particularly Southampton Quake who will be playing the Pro Tour next season. Good luck guys!
