The NSPL has just published the following Press Release...

Press Release – 28th March 2005

NSPL Expands to South East

The NSPL is happy to announce that the league will be expanding into the South East area during 2005. The same quality of events that South West teams have come to expect will now be brought to teams all over the South of England and around the Greater London area. This move is the first step towards unifying the Southern areas of the UK in to one professional regional tournament series. The SE area has been without quality tournaments for too long and the NSPL is confident that it can rectify this using the extensive knowledge, contacts and expertise developed over six years of running successful events in the South West.

The move is backed by Niall Squires and Andy Scutt of Campaign and Millennium fame, and is supported by the other regional tournament series’. In addition, industry support is strong with the likes of Powerball (Sterling Paintballs) already signing up to Platinum Sponsorship deals.

Although this expansion to the NSPL has been kept under wraps as much as possible until this point, several teams that have got wind of these new tournaments have expressed a strong interest in playing the entire series. Judging standard is a top priority for this series and with the contacts in Niall, Syd and Scutty’s little black books, quality reffing should never be a problem.

With so much talent coming out of the South over the last few years, a strong regional tournament series spanning the entire of Southern England can only strengthen UK paintball as a whole.

Chris “Syd” Pelling, NSPL Organiser, said, “This is what the South has been shouting out for over the last five years and the NSPL is 100% committed to ensuring it delivers tournaments that match up to expectations. Not paintball festivals like the old M25 series, but solid, player-orientated tournaments where teams can get down to the serious business of playing competitive paintball.”

During the 2005 season, the South West and South East areas will run as separate leagues with some cross-overs throughout the year, particularly Heaven’s Gate III, 23rd-24th July in Bournemouth. Then, during 2006, both areas will merge to create the NatWest Southern Paintball League proper.

New staff have been hired to deal with the added work load and liase with South East teams. All information about the NSPL (SE) series for 2005 has been released on the www.nspl.co.uk web site.

We are standing by to answer your queries and take bookings for the first NSPL (SE) leg on May 8th.

Division 1 winners from BOTH the SW and the SE will qualify for the Pro Tour 2006.

Being the only series not to have already started, this makes the NSPL (SE) a good option for those teams looking for a Pro Tour spot.

thats cool,
is the series the same principle as the other one, game points totalled for each leg with the lowest being discarded ?

also the first event (may 8th) clashes with the pa event,
is there any chance of moving this a week ?

one more question... (might be the wrong person/place to ask)
what happens if 1 team qualifies twice for the pro tour. will another team be picked ? .
or is that team free to 'sell' their extra spot ?
