You've heard the rumours, here's the truth...
The NSPL, in conjuntion with Proto and UCZ Paintball Park is starting up the NSPL Academy to provide a place to play and train for all levels of paintballers. The Academy will run on Wednesday evenings from 5pm at UCZ Paintball Park, South Devon, three times a month from late April.
The first Academy session of the month will be a Newcomers Evening, where 10 sets of Proto equipment and 10 Proto Matrix's will be available for new players to use. The session will include a Health & Safety briefing, a look at the tournament player's equipment, a run through the basic techniques, and some games to finish off. This session will be run by Mel of Upminster Halloween fame.
The second Academy session of the month will be a Drill Evening, with 100% drills, no games for the entire evening. There will be occasional guest appearances from the NSPL Factory Team and other Pro Players to help coach attending players and training overseen by myself and Lindsey (Taunton Snatch).
The third Academy session of the month will be 3-Man and 5-Man X-Ball Lite tournament structured games. Team numbers will be limited and the turn-around will be VERY quick. Teams will be required to ref each other.
The Green Fee entrance to the Newcomers and Drill sessions will be £7.50. Entrance to the X-Ball Lite sessions will be £15.00 per player. Sterling paint bought from our shop on site will be the only paintballs allowed to be shot at the Academy and will cost £25.00 per case. Paintball Warehouse sponsored teams will receive discount on both entry and paint - those teams please email me for details.
The Academy sessions will be held on the Millennium-sized grass field at UCZ Paintball Park. We will have undercover staging, parking, toilet and air fills to 4,500psi. Hot food and drinks will be available if numbers are high enough.
NSPL Academy Opening Day - 26th April
We are holding a special opening day for the Academy on the evening of 26th April. There will be Special Offers in store for this one-night only. The field will be open for Newcomers to try out tournament paintball from 5pm until 7pm. Then, there will be a series of train-crash style 5-man games until we drop or it gets dark.
We are in the process of planning more special features for this opening day and will provide details in this thread.
The rest of the NSPL Academy dates will be released shortly. Start time is expected to be 6pm for each session.
This is an incredible service to be taken advantage of by players of all levels and will feature a structured club environment, helping players each step of the way and building new teams for entry to the Proto KotH and NSPL. At its height is the NSPL Factory Team and players good enough to make it through to Pro level will be recruited from the Academy.
I hope to see as many of you as possbile at the open evening and would also like to take this opportunity to let you know that we are looking for volunteers to help out at Academy Sessions. There will be plenty to do as time goes on and only by having people such as myself, Lindsey and Mel give up some of their free time can we keep this so cheap and accessible.
