NPPL - staining paint

Non-Staining Paint is now illegal and staining paint is legal in the backwards world that is American "professional" paintball.

The NPPL banned yellow evil on Friday morning without ever bothering to test it. They even took full unopened cases of paint that were paid for. When teams asked to have it back and promised to not to shoot it at the event, they were threatened with expulsion from the event for possessing illegal staining paint. Obviously it was easier to give it up.

The very next day everyone was allowed to shoot yellow again (because the NPPL did the test overnight and it PASSED). The NPPL refused to give back our unfairly confiscated paint.

We found out on Sunday from a Diablo representative that ALL PAINT except Diablo and Evil failed the paint test, and the NPPL allowed all staining paint to continue being sold through out the event. In other words, the NPPL took the legal paint and didn't harass all the other people who were actually shooting illegal paint.

The rumor going around was that the NPPL "forgot" to test GAP paint.

Not the same story that I heard. I was told that the Yellow RPS was staining and could not be used (We were going to shoot it) but after they had tested all the paint they found pretty much every brand / colour to stain thus failing the test. You can't have a tourney without paint so they let it all be used. They were trying to ban staining paint due to a massive bill at the end of the New Jersey event for stained tents etc ! Can't blame them for trying to solve a problem, I just think they handled it badly. Not saying what i heard is correct, just what i heard !

NPPL allergic to bananas?

Hadn't heard the part about not returning confiscated legal paint to their rightful owners.

Perhaps someone from the league would like to offer an explanation of the complete circumstances and results in order to clear up any confusion on this issue?

We heard that the Chronic and Severe were by far the worst and heard from both the PMI and Diablo representative that the Yellow Evil did indeed pass the staining test.

John Rathbun at PMI was the one who relayed the information about the paint passing so you can verify from him. No one from the NPPL wanted to talk about it.

I am still pink.

I am not, however, yellow, on any part of my body. Maybe those teams shooting yellow failed to hit me, though... can't remember.

I too am still pink.... along with some yellow, orange, black, blue and green.

IMO the pink paints stain the worst, regardless of manufacturer. Evil, severe, gap - all the pink ones leave a nice "afterglow".

I heard they were going to ban the evil pink at this event until they tested the other paints too. When they saw they all stained to some degree, they let 'em all stay.

Without a doubt, GAP is the worst tasting paint out there. :(

:D :D :D

Maybe that's why Evil didn't bring Pink, they knew it wouldn't pass the stain test. The Diablo and Evil paint are the only two that passed.

There was some pink fill that smelled like a swimming pool... sort of chlorine-like. I wonder if someone put a little bleach in to help prevent the fill from staining...

Correct me if im wrong, but wouldn't bleach leave a white spot on black and other colored clothing? What I'm wondering is why you only hear of paint staining in the professional ranks and not on the rec. market? I think these companies need to grab regular paint they sell to the public and use it. Wiping really hasn't been a problem.
