NPPL has player satisfaction as it's more evident and primary focus than the PSP. The venues, player staging, # of toilets, availability of fruit to throw at your teammates, and quality refereeing all serve to let you know, Ged Green is actually Santa Claus. And Chuck Hendsch is Rudolph. Camille might be the Easter bunny, or that might just be this dream I had.

Xball is a more fun to play (and usually to watch) format. Risk is rewarded more, adaptabilty is more important to success than in 7 man, and the riff-raff can't afford to play.

i think that the only way foward for x ball is if the prices for paint are lower. x ball is to expensive for everyone to be able to play and if only a few people can afford to play then the sport will never grow. x ball needs to be avalible to everyone. i think that x ball rocks but i also think that is going to die a early grave if we dont get the whole paintball indestry behind it.:D :D

Different formats are never going to be supported by the 'whole industry' as companies and sponsors will always have different loyalties to teams and sponsors.

Xball is a fun format to play, but so is the NPPL. My concerns with X is the open and empty promises from the big cheeses and DC. NPPL is getting big, spectator friendly venues. TV is already involved and they look after their customers to their full ability. Mad props to the Pure Promotion staff.

Look at CAMP. All the bull**** of it being connected to Disney?! On glass and flint ridden fields!? It was a sh*t event. Full Stop. The millenium need to sort the **** out and put a quality event on in the 'Dam if they wanna keep the top teams in the 2 XBall divisions.

The people who have seen both formats extensively can see for themselves where the grass is greener. And I know that a lot of the Americans are fed up of the unfullfilled promises of the NXL and are/will vote with there feet. If the NXL fails, then the EXL is doomed.

Also, National have now moved over to supporting the NPPL fully. Becoming a Platinum sponsor and moving their most marketable team (Effect) accross formats... And they were the original creators and backers of the XBall format!!

Mabye X is more fun to play, but unfortunately for the pros where you play is predomenantly decided by your sponsors.

Only time will tell....

Peace :)

Whatever floats your boat.

anyways i think the most popular tourney type will be decided by the players, id love to play X-Ball but im no millionaire, can anyone on these boards who lives outside the US realistically see X-Ball being around in the next few years?(outside the US)

I enjoy playing 7man and watching it, and i think that those people who say X-Ball is better to watch havent seen the NPPL events that were on Fox. Maybe its just me but im not into the coaching aspect either.

people keep barking on about x being expensive to play. it isn't THAT much more expensive if at all.

Your paint bill is split between 10-12 not 7 or 8, and I can't say that it feels like we are shooting a whole more anyway.

The thing is does require is good organisation to get your 10-12 players, coach, pit crew etc etc all at events, but there are economies as you can generally get discounts with the larger groups etc.

Plus I know there are several succesfull 3man X ball events in the states and they aren't for the "millionaire" teams.

So don't keep assuming you can't play it because of money, its not that bad!!

what you forget though beaker (and tell me if Im wrong) is that the lesser teams (i.e not Pro or top Am) are not sponsored with much at all.

Teams that say we are sponsored by x paintball company and play Nov or Am usually only really get discount products rather than free products, and only a few really good teams or teams with potential get free things. And Im talking about paint aswell. So if a regular team decided to play Xball and had a mad TonTon 94 cases, but didn't win, they are looking at a £3500 ish paint bill. Divide between 12 players = £300ish each.

Plus entry, plus flights, plus hotel, food, dancing girls, hire cars etc.

A very expensive time.
