Hey there
Just another new guy Introducing himself and a few questions to go with.
Ok bit of background first, I've played a lot of airsoft in the past (ducks) but I'm now looking to get into something a bit more serious and competitive so tournaments look like the way to go.
I am however relatively new to paintball (have played a bit in the past but not enough) so I'm on the lookout for cheap gear in the classified section.

First thing to get I suppose would be a good mask, I'm told its worth shelling out a bit extra for a better one and to make sure it's got an anti fog screen on it too so if someone could point me in the direction of a good supplier in the UK and a good make and model I would appreciate it.
As for a marker I don't think I want to be shelling out a grand and a half for a brand new angel just yet so something second hand like an ego 05 from the classifieds would probably be on the cards but If anyone can give me some pointers for a decent tournament gun that won't get completely trampled I would be grateful.
One thing that did concern me about some of the guns in the classified though was that I had a look on the millennium series site and after looking at the rules it seemed to mention things like clear hoppers and double triggers were forbidden which most of the guns in the for sale section had (or at least very long triggers, not sure if that counts), I know the hopper can be changed fairly easily but what about the trigger.
Anyway thats all for now
Cheers
Twiglet

A mask is always personal preference matey. There are many masks people will tell you are better than others but only because that's the mask they have or that's the only mask they can get along with. Using those guidelines, i'd tell you to get a pair of the original E-vents (the company that make them just brought out a 2009 model).

Some key masks for you to try would be JT proflex/flex series, Vforce Grills, Vfore profilers, Empire E-vents (as above), dye I3s/I3 pros and proto axis. http://www.lpspaintball.biz/acatalog/Goggles.html is a place I'd vouch for, but I'd phone them up instead of buying from the website if I were you.

A marker is also personal preference, but a few starter markers that you could look out for in no particular order: Smart parts ion/epiphany/eos, Proto matrix rail (PMR), Proto SLG, Eclipse ego 5/6, ETEK or older angels like the Speed 5. If you can make it to a public training day or tournament, PM a few people to ask if you can borrow their marker to shoot over the chrono (range) and get them to tell you a little bit about what they started with. Ultimately, remember there is no "one way" to do things :)

masks: this guy made a video on masks that might be helpful for you, as he dosn't tend to say things like "omg i just bought this new ......... and its the best one in the world", like alot of people do on youtube.

markers: i think the ego 05 is a good reliable marker that is relatively inexpensive and easy to maintain, and planet eclipse is a very good company with excellent customer service.

millennium rules: with clear hoppers, that only means clear see through hoppers, so you can have a coloured hopper that is see through but not one that is clear, this is because you could have paint in your hopper that is the same colour as the paint that is being shoot at you, so a ref might find it difficult to see a "hit" on your hopper. so you are allowed a colourd see though hopper just it can't be clear.

with the triggers: by double triggers i think it means more than one trigger, you are allowed 1 trigger that is long so that you are able to walk the trigger.

i hope i helped and that its easy to understand (because its kind of hard to explain stuff over the internet lol)
