Okay I feel the time has come to start looking at a Northern League, I will be speaking to Blakey who runs the Midland Masters this weekend to see where we start. My thoughts are we have a North, Mid and Southern Masters, then once a Year we battle it out for the winners of the UK Masters, now I appreciate there are other tournaments out there and we don't want to go treading on anyones toes.

My ideas at the moment are my own so any input would be greatly appreciated.

1. We run with 5 & 7 man Sup' Air ONLY tournaments on a monthly basis, kicking off in February 2003.

2. We need the support of Northern Teams, outside sponsors and above all Northern Sites, this includes sites in Scotland that I will approach later in the year looking for Support to bring this great game back to Scotland and Northern England.

3. All legs will be unlimited paint with a minimum of 3 Sup' Air fields, obviously Cameronians own a 5/7 Man field and we have access to another 5 man.

4. We want to run the series as relaxed as possible, each team will be requested to Marshal at least one leg.

5. I will approach potential sponsors so all you guys in the business watch out, Sids looking for ya.

6. You, I need your help, I will run this series if we have enough interest, again I will speak to Blakey this weekend and see how it all works, if it means using a single site for the entire series then fine, same as Temple do it, this will make it a neutral site, everyone knows and it also means repeat revenue for hotels and above all the site.

Please give me your feedback.

Hi Sid

Good on you mate, but do you know what your letting yourself in for.
It seems like you've given this some thought for your post. The only thing I would look at is the commitments to have teams who play the series also have to marshal a leg. I am not a great fan of this for a number of reasons, which I'm sure we can discuss this weekend, but don't you think it would be better to try and build up a pool of marshal's who regularly marshal the events.
See you in the beer tent this weekend.

Phil,

I will run a Northern Series mate, however I do need a little if not a lot of help, I'm hoping to be there around 9:30 ish Saturday and hopefully yourself and Blakey will sit and have a beer with me so we can kick start this series. I have contaced a local sport centre with some fantastic facilities for our Scottish Open, let's get the ball rolling eh.

Sid,

Speaking for the Hellfish, I can tell you that we'd be well up for it. I think the Kamakazee's from Carlisle would be up for it too, and they have a sup air field......

sid,

where are you planning on holding these events

because there are quite a few teams up north but not that many in scotland and do you think teams will travel 5.30 hours to go and play there some teams would like yourselves but if you got the location right i think this could be a success
maybe somehwhere in the middle

i wouldnt mind doing some events in scotland

Yo Sid
I'm sure we'll be able to come up to the events as long as they don't clash with Blakeys.

We'll see ya saturday and this time you're buying:D

Go SID, Go SID, Go SID..

Like Tony said above.. you need any help then the Hellfish will be more than willing to help where we can.

Personally I think that getting a single location sorted, at least for the first year, would be better than moving about. Makes planning and organisation a lot easier that way.. and from a Players point of view it should make no difference, since it's air ball the fields can still change monthly.

I would suggest making it a set 5 man series, again making planning and logistics easier if you are cattering for less players.

You also need to consider travell of teams.. I'd love to see the re-birth of the Scotish scene, but until they invent Dual Carrageway roads into Scotland then travel times will be a problem. There are several possable locations in the North of England with good Access, 6E at Bishop Auckland, Bruce at Scotch Corner, Just Paintball in Darlington, and I'm sure there are a lot more.

:p I'm all excited about it now..

Ball Rolling

Okay,

I'm going to have a look at some locations, there may be somewhere around Carlise which is roughly 2 hours from our location, my other thought is to approach Bruce from Scotch Corner and see what he can do. Si, I appreciate what you are saying as far as 5 man constant goes however my thoughts are run 7 man around the lead up to for example Campaign as it will give UK teams the chance to play and try out new moves/players prior to playing in a Mill Event without massive expenditure. I also think a Northern Series would be excellent for the teams having to travel great distances, if we can get some input and support from teams as well as players and other tournament organisers then I'm sure it would take off with a little hard work. I as I have said will take lead with this, however if we in the North can think of anything to help then get in touch, I'll be speaking to the Midland Masters guys this weekend so hopefully they can help me out as well as well as words of wisdom from Mr Bull.

To be honest the only way I see this failing is if you the players do not commit to a Northern Series and continue to travel down South, hopefully we will up the skill level and when we do go for the UK Masters we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Again feedback people.no point me running a series for Hellfish, Cameronians, RDX and Keltic Warriors is there?
