Let me explain the history of Elmo's post (who I must thank even though I am not sure who he is.) as I hadn't got round to making a post on this forum yet. I am the person who looks after the website
http://www.nesp.org.uk (formerly
http://www.northeastskirmishleague.co.uk). What started as an idea that myself and some friends had after our last rec-ball game has snowballed into this huge beast that is now known as NESP. My original idea was to have a small tournament or league based at Skirmish Aberdeen. Then depending on how popular it was contact the other centres in the immediate area and invite them to try and gather up some teams so that we could have an area tournament at the same time we would contact sites in other regions within Scotland to get them to do the same eventually leading up to a situation where the tournament winners from each region would meet up and battle it out for the glory of becoming Scottish Champs
. But now it seems that word of mouth has kicked in and we have people from all over, so far we have had 6 people volunteer teams each with with about 9 players including subs. Although we haven't really been advertising the fact that we are trying to set this up.
In terms of getting a league going we are more likely to run a tournanmen then see how many teams would be interested in forming a league and obviously the tournament would be open to all. Please feel free to join our forum and post any suggestions. It was in fact a visit to your website that gave us the idea in the first place, so any assistance you could give would be appreciated.
I am hoping that NESP will increase paintball activity in Scotland specifically in the NE. As it already seems well catered for in the central belt. If there is an appropriate level of interest then I would be definitely be interested in trying to get something organised on a national level but not on my own.
One thing that would worry me and some others that I know is the costs involved in a national league, one of the many reasons we are starting small. Travelling from Aberdeen to anyother poulation centres in Scotland takes at least an hour and most of us have commitments that mean taking the whole weekend away is difficult. anyway now I am just rambling so I'll stop. I look forward to hearing from you wioth regards anything I have said.
