Point Blank's 3 Man Tournament Review (Wednesday 23rd)
Having been so pleased with the turn out we have had recently and considering a few of our regular teams where unavailable, i was pleasantly surprised to have such an excellent convergance of players/teams. The weather was with us this week, so the Gazebo's were there for sunshade not water proofing! The field had an aggresive set up, with few defensive positions, which was pointed out by some of our more experienced players. It was good to see that the spread of teams and their abilities ranged from first timers to ex div1 players. By 7 o'clock all had arrived and we could let battle commence!
The first game set the precedent for the night, with the Rugmunchers taking on the novices of Bye and losing! This was a major surprise due to the Rugmunchers excellent performance the week before. From this moment on it was impossible to call a game. All the big hitting teams seem to have glitches when it came to playing the less experienced teams, which made for an exciting if not amusing evening! The Raggy Rasta's (formely known as Universal) had a poor start until their nemesis match against Whatever. From the moment the hooter went off both teams changed the beautiful azure sky to a painted rainbow( the paint really did fly!), with Rasta's coming out tops and giving Whatever their first and only taste of defeat!
It was splendid to see new teams like Off to men, Jackass and NVA getting in on the action and taking points off each other and off the more experienced teams. A special mention has to goto Jackass who not only got their first ever points on the board managed 3 victories and a flag grab leaving them with a very respectable 325 points! The Carebears (even with a slightly weaker line up) were consistant as ever and made for some of the most spectacular and controvertial of games! NVA stuggled this week with marker problems, but at least they weren't Chronied at 360! as they were the week before.
As usual random Chrono checks were done through out the Tourney and the Marshalling was strong but fair, and the friendlyness was the overpowering feature of the night, with everybody helping each other with kit and advice!
The overall final standings went as follows: 1st : Whatever
2nd: Raggy Rasta's
3rd Carebears
and a requested named 4th : Bye
Overall it was an exciting evening and most enjoyable. I would just like to thank all my Marshalls especially Andy Doberman Ultimate who ran the games strictly, safely and fairly! I would also like to thank all who took part, the turn out like I said was excellent and considering 28 games were played the Tourney finished at 9pm on the dot!
At £15 per team and air/Co2 included it was mentioned to me on numerous occasions what great value it was and with the shop vending paintball supplies, drinks and snacks, all facilities were covered.
A quick note is that from of next week we will have backup markers and kit available for anybody who fancies coming along and having a go, or if someone has Equipment failure!!
