While up in sunny S****horpe (Simply the Best), I noticed a hell of alot of players without adequate barrel-bunging. A variety of things were being used. The obligatory squeegee, pull throughs and poorly fitting bungs......

This happens alot at major tournaments aswell (no disrespect Mr.Bull) i.e Millennium/NPPL events even though Barrel socks sre given out at Millenium Series events, to all players, free of charge!!

Not good enough i'm afraid. As a result of this I will be recommending that, at the Campaign Cup, penalty points will be given to players/teams that do not make there gun safe with the barrel sock provided or on that they already have in there possesion.

The question is, how many points do you deduct in order to make people think about site ettiquette. 5, 10 25.....?

What level of penalisation will make people realise that safety is important, very important?

Let me know what you think

Thanks for taking the time. jeff

I agree with the penalty points thing; thought I am not sure about how many points. Though, I can say...If I get shot in my eye by some lazy-ass n00b who didn't put their plug in I'm going to sue their ass for so much money that they'll never be able to play again. ...Hmm...where did that come from...

I think people should get one warning and then very heavy penalties.

Safety is not something to take lightly.

The heavier you penalise it the more seriously people will take it.

Say one warning then a 25-50 point penalty. Make it harsh. There is no excuse for not making your gun safe when not on the field. None whatsoever.

Barrel Plugs

In regards to the comment about barrel plugs the rule's are very clear.
A barrel plug must be visable from a distance and must not allow a ball to leave the barrel.
If you know anything about me you will know badly fitting plugs are one of my pet hates and if i think one is loose I dish out points OR if the player wants we can test fire his marker if it stays in place i remove the penaltys but if it comes out and it always will wont it I then have the pleasure of giving max penalty points.

The simply the best and other northen events has a very good rep as far as points of safety are concerned we was even thinking of not using paint next year !!.

And we have made checking BP's a norm when you go to the chrono And we do NOT give warning if we think it will come out only points.

People must understand it is so silly to risk an injury to anyone for the sake of a 2 pound BP that fits correctly.

And as for the comment about walking about with out adequate bungs in at the STB, Yes people did walk about coming back from the fields with there squeegee in the gun but if you was seen going TO the field not using a recommend BP/sock you would have been warned and if seen again penalty pointed

I agree with all thats stated except the warnings given. People playing these tournaments are very well aware of the rules governing barrel blocking devices (BBD). Do you feel a warning is necessary in regards to making players aware or would immediate enforcement with no warning have a better effect. I imagine this could cause problems if its accepted however, its immediate impact and penalty points would leave a greater reminder with safety. Given we are attracting a larger audience especially in regards to european tournaments with crowds the chances of accidents is rising. Please take the last sentence as a personal opinion as I have no statistical evidence in which to back it up.

I agree with most of the above, but don't think that barrel socks should be the only way of ensuring that markers are made safe. Surely in the future there could be instances where the elastic snaps on one of these barrel socks, making it totally unsafe??? Wouldn't a properly fitting barrel bung be better than this????

The problem with bungs is making sure that they fit - who can tell without checking each one??

A barrel bag (in good condition) does not need to fit into anything so will be safe on every gun, barrel bore size etc.

The bag is on - you can see it's on and you know the gun is safe - a 100% ability to visually check.

Bungs leave too much to human error, carelessness, laziness.

The bag is way.

Very true.

Problem is I have never seen a sock available for purchase. You only seem to get them if you play a round of the Millenium (don't know about Stateside). Fair enough they are free but not everyone plays the big tornaments.

As they seem to be much better than bungs surely Planet, SmartParts etc should sell them. There has to be a market for them. Imagine custom printed barrel socks!

Again, Coran comes up with another money spinning idea! Note if anyone sees an advert for printing up barrel socks let me know as the idea is now my intellectual property. I will demand royalties!

Barrel socks

Allas coran your to late bully as been selling them for months.
And we have found out that the bigger heavy socks when we tested them only travel a short distance even when not secured so are a lot safer than plugs in my opinion.
And going back to the socks Bully sells I think if you buy a full team amount you can have them printed.
Check with Bully !.
