Ninja Pro V2 Reg 'gap'

So I have a Ninja pro v2 reg, as you can see in the picture there is a gap in the regulator.

I've tried taking it apart but it just won't make contact. It was not always like this so I don't know how this has developed.

It's fired well over 50,000 paintballs in this condition so it works fine but just looks unnerving.

Any suggestions on how to alleviate this?

Make sure it's empty first obviously before doing anything!

undo the locking nuts in the black part of the reg (above the silver ring) and screw it back together.
