Well, having soaked myself in Biofreeze I can now report on yesterday's training; I'd heartily recommend a day with Nicky T to anyone serious about improving their paintball skills
After a brief chat about the objectives for the day we started with a not-
too-strenuous warmup and stretching session that produced a few creaks and groans but would be worth incorporating into anyone's pre-game routine. The training proper then started with each player trying their hand at snapshooting followed by a demonstration of how to do it properly
and individual tuition for each and every attendee. Next came a very entertaining drill involving snapshooting against opponents arranged in a style that caught out more than a few players (ow) as it required fast movement in the bunker as well as good snapshooting technique. After a breather for lunch we then moved onto running and gunning and laning practice, with a few players more than a little surprised by just how hard it is to put shots on a runner with a field's length between them, with Nick again on hand to offer each player advice and help with their gun skills. After some very funny scenes with a few of the running players getting cocky and paying the price with the last run turning into a well-peppered conga line. Lastly we finished with an intense drill that put together the skills developed during the day, with players battling down a tape line in a race to the fifty without getting shot, left and right handed. This really allowed people to see the benefit of the day's activities and was also excellent practice and great fun, and I think most teams represented there will be trying that one again in future. By the end of the day most players hadn't used a full box apiece so it's not an expensive day, and several players also invested in (signed) copies of Nicky's Winning Skills DVD.
All in all an excellent day's training which packed in a lot of useful info and personal teaching without ever being deadly serious, well worth every penny. One thing players I talked too afterwards all agreed on was Mr Truter's ability to correct problems and offer useful advice without making anyone feel small or miserable, and compared to some of the pros out there you'll find him refreshingly easy to talk to and lacking in attitude.
The nice guys at Snetterton have confirmed they plan to invite Nicky T this way again in the not-too-distant future, and if you are at all serious about your game get booked in and get learning. I'm off to lie down for a bit
