Nexus Ram

[Just Curious]

Was just wondering if anybody has had the same problem that I have just encountered with the Nexus.

The 'part' that attaches the Ram to the main body has snapped, broken clean in half. Easily solved I hear you say....most likely...but as part of the join is still attached to the Ram, I need to buy a brand new one and hopefully Planet will able to supply a new attachement also.

My Teammate also had this happen to his Nexus. Is this a design flaw and are Planet aware....you would think that if the were they would upgrade the metal that they use making this attachment...but then again charge £1200.00 for a new marker....then a few months later get yourself an extra £40.00 for replacing the Ram. Makes sense!

You get get the bracket for a few pence from Planet.

Apparently the mounting is meant to be weaker than the other parts so that if you whack it on anything it breaks rather than the ram.

Done, and very nice peeps they are too! I was just pointing out what I took to be a flaw in the design maybe.

But part of the mounting is still attached to the Ram which means I need to purchase a new one or try to file the old one down.

I used a team mates nexus and this happened just took it into planet and the sorted by adding a new bracket, and putting the old ram back on..... take it to planet and get them to have a look..

the ram should unscrew from th old mounting..

Yeah...just get a good grip on teh ram with some soft jaws or something that wont mark it...and then use pliers or whatever to grip the old bit and wind it off...if its been loctited...screw it in first, to brreak teh seal, and then unscrew it.
