Next season hypothetical scenario

Im a little apprehensive about next season.

1 - With most of the Pro teams playing EXL, and for what I read, playing only that format, the Series its going to be very poor.

2 – There sims to be a monopolization of the Series, by Draxxus, probably related with the EXL deal.
Voices in the dark say something like : Joy Masters, Russia, Crystal Palace, Toulouse, Amsterdam and Madrid.
Will this mean at short term the end of the BYO ?

3 – And the promoters out of this Millennium deal, like Max Masters, ZEAO, Camp Masters, WDP, etc…what are they going to do ? Probably organize a parallel circuit.
And the Series will be even poorer.

For me as a player its great to have such a freedom of choice and so many events to participate, but is this really the best way to improve PB in Europe ?

So many years to put Europe together, and now lets split the European circuit and Teams apart ??…

We've got to get beyond the sandbox mentality...

Great possibilites are on the horizon. Super 7 is now on TV in America, Dick Clark Productions are making a significant investments to get an X Ball series on TV. Our sport is exploding.

But look at all the seemingly childish squabbling!

Folks, we gotta cut out this friggin' back stabbing, petty jealously and finger pointing and work together!

I know it is too easily said but: United we stand, divided we fall!

NOTHING (i repeat) NOTHING has been decided yet for next year. A lot of important people in the Millennium Series are talking about things, but it's all just ideas until they sit down together and discuss things and make some decisions.

There are only a few concrete things to go on;
NXL teams won't be comming to play in Europe next year as part of any EXL (Rich Telford said this a few days ago) and Dick Clarke Productions is developing the NXL for live TV, (stated in various press releases and interviews).

There has been no clear direction given about the EXL, The NPPL or the Millennium series for 2004 as of yet.

There sims to be a monopolization of the Series, by Draxxus, probably related with the EXL deal.

It's hardly a monopoly, it's a substancial stake in the series due to the amount of money invested in the series, and euro x-ball.

Yo, Steverino. Look around. We is divided. The NXL kidz are outta the loop (or we're outta their loop or however you wanna look at it the twain ain't likely to meet anytime soon.) We got competing leagues and teams playin' X, 7 and 10 (though it's got 2 feet in the grave and just hasn't decided to lie down and get it over with quite yet.)
The Mil lads look at the PSP and gotta wonder if X ain't the PB version of the plague and if'n it might not tear down their little houses instead of turning them into palaces.
In the short term you ain't gonna get united. Course the status quo ain't gonna fly either. Change is in the wind. It's gale force already and pickin' up speed.

For starters, it's not us---it's them. The players have the potential for some power and some influence but if you're suggesting that a united playership could solve all the current chaos in PB you're sadly mistaken. Among other things, your premise is doomed to failure. The only things you could conceivably get the players to unite behind are things that they all perceive as beneficial (like safety, pro refs, event standards and so on) and even then too many are lazy useless *******s unwilling to lift a finger to help themselves.
Right now, for example, the power of the Mil Disciplinary Committee doesn't reside in the universal backing of the players, it resides in the fact the Mil promoters recognize and abide by its rulings.
And what's a united playership gonna do about the EXL? Most players probably don't want an EXL cause they like things the way they are. And does that mean things should stay the same forever?
And would American players have ever demanded 7-man events? No way.
And just how are a united playership--if such were even possible--gonna settle things?
Are the needs and interests of the EPA gonna be the same as other (at present nonexistent) player organizations?

As things stand there are competing ideas, competing visions and competing interests at work and while strong player organizations would give the players a voice at the table it would only be one of many. This is gonna have to play itself out. Simple as that.

No, Paul, I was not referring exclusively to the players. I was making one of those ridiculously too obvious sweeping generalizations about the need for us to unite as a total PB world.

I have seen a few hints of some clear-thinking industry people who have tried to step out of the fray and be magnanimous. But I suppose it's one step forward occasionally and five steps backwards most of the time.

I see all too often, almost on a daily basis (I'm not talking about particulars of my job now, just generally) people still thinking about their petty agendas and their little corporate/political wars.

I offer no cure, just am frustrated by how we seem to be heading down the road to hell in the midst of some of the greatest opportunities ever.

I fear that as soon as Hollywood or big media sees how childish this busines is they'll distance themselves as much as possible.

I'm basically talking about a major lack of professionallism and an overwhelming surplus of self-serving, narrow-minded, wanne-be gansta-pimp egos.

I'm not aiming this to any person, just looking at the general picture. And I know I ain't perfect.

I don't know what the solution is. I just hope we can wake up, find some good direction and leadership and become a respectable, united busines and sport.
