I'm new to paintball and have a price limit of about $200 American dollars to spend on the marker and gear. I was thinking of purchasing a Spyder TL Plus but if anyone has betterideas please post them. Also I wanted to know if this marker is very upgradeable and if, with some upgrades, it might slightly stand a chance in a Tourny. I also wanted to know hoe important a Revolutios hopper would be for my gun. Please try to help me out thanx.

Welcome aboard dragon_fire124. The Spider TL is a prety good starter marker, but I'm sure others here know more than me about the upgrade path & will comment.
Depending on what level you're talking about competing at, it should see you OK - we've had people out competing at tourneys with site Piranhas & Infernos before now & still having fun & winning games. One thing I would say is yes you really want to try to get an electronic hopper, otherwise you'll spend half your time shaking the gun to try to get the balls to feed. 12v much better than 9v.

Look around...

Always look for deals from people selling second hand at tournaments or uin the PGI forums. Also think about whether you want to bother having to sell the gun later or save a bit and get something like a cocker which can be added to over time.

dragonfire, i own a 98 custom and it is the best marker i have laid hands on. it never chops or jams. it is about $120 on paintballgear.com . they have all the cheapest prices. i am also getting a 9v revvy for about $40. if you have $200 you can get all that and somethign else you want. if you are looking to go into tourneys, just squander up some more cash and buy an autococker. have fun

kingman sells the tl as a tourney level gun. basically everything about it has been upgraded in some fashion. but it can be upgraded further. any spyder or spyder compatible has limitless options for upgrade and are inexpensive to do so.
as far as whether you could use a tl in a tourney? i don't play tourney ball but it seems that the tourney scene is based around newer high fire rate guns like impulses, angels, cockers, etc. with a highly upgraded tl you could go into a tourney and hold you own if you have the skills. but eventually you'd probably want ot upgrade to a better marker.

look into the black dragun. it's basically a spyder clone with a e-trigger frame. it's under 200 bucks and it shoots 13 bps out of the box. all you need is a better barrel, nitro, and maybe a new bolt to compete with the high fire rate guns. word on the street is the black dragun trigger feels as repsonsive as guns that cost a heck of a lot more.
