Morning all! Been to a few walk on's and to a tournament in Uttoxeter a year or so back (just to spectate), bought an ION, evo 2 hopper and pure energy 1.5L tank with the intention of starting and low and behold...i got a new job which ment i had to work weekends

Anyhow here i am a year later and i want to start properly (As now i have a new job, releasing my weekends). I have been reading bits and bobs from around the internet and i have decided to buy all new equipment, using my ion as a spare as a guy from my work could be joining me and using my old equipment.

So, ive gone and bought myself a dye rotor hopper, an invision I4 mask, and a load of dye playing gear (jersey, pants, gloves etc) and all i need now is a marker and a decent tank to complement it.

I havent really set myself a budget, i dont mind forking out a wad if it will give me a fighting chance of becoming a decent player!

So far i have been looking at the DM9, EGO 09, and im struggling to see which would most benefit me, or if there is something better on the market to give me that extra bit of head start?

In terms of air i was looking at the crossfire or the dye throttle? dont think im getting the whole high pressure low pressure thing though, or what is best for what gun

Sorry for the lengthy introduction!

I did read about the eclipse sl8r somewhere, arent they like rocking horse poop in the uk? I dont mind spending that bit extra as long as i get some bang for my buck and it comes in red :D

dude if u got the money then spead away haha, ur gona meet a division of ppl who like planet and ppl who like dye. i personally love Ego's and i own a 08. they in my opinion are one of the best out ther :) as for air most guns take HP, only a few take LP like angels so HP will be fine.

my mate has an ego 09 and a rotor which i have shot and they work perfectly :) also a 1.1 airsystem is the std size. i like the DXS ones as they are not a long as most of the other brands.

but its upto you :) both planet and dye make great products so the choice is yours :)

in terms of practicality, how are the ego's to live with (ie. maintenance etc) i have got to grips with the ion as it is very basic, would i have a job on my hands with an ego 09?

would go with the sl8r if it was in red but cant seem to see any  and any in the uk for that matter!

sorry if the questions seem daft, im a quick learner honest :D

ego maintainence is easy, jus unscrew the rear rammer cap and oil the orings on the rammer :) its open bolt so the bolt jus pops up and slide out. for the rest its quite straight foward and the manual is easy to read and follow.

sl8r are nice but i would jus stick with a ego 09 :)

easier than a standard ion for sure !

To give yourself a head start simply get onto some walk ons and play and talk to existing players! As someone else already posted having an úber marker does not make you as a player-practice and the right skills do!
Join a Team to learn how to play tourneys if that is the way you want to go. Buy a second-hand Etek/Angel/Ego/Dm firstly and learn how to play the game before you buy a £800 marker mate.

Why not spend £400 on a second hand ego 08 and the other £350-£400 you have saved from not buying a SL8R or 09 you can spend on actually playing and buying paint.

£400 worth of playing ball will make you a much better player than an £800 marker will. :D

But if you do have to spend all that money on a gat, the SL8R would be my choice. :D
