Hi all. I know this question has been asked many times but I just want to make sure for my needs.

I'm looking at buying my first marker. It should be able to use CO2 because I go to DF with mates but I will primarily use air. It will be used at walk ons and scenarios, but should be usable for sup-air etc. I was originally looking at buying a new Tippmann 98 or BT-4, but I have been told that I can get a much better preowned gun for the same price by looking at the ads. What should I keep my eyes open for?

My mate has just bought an upped ION XE for £80, and I want something similair but maybe a little bit more woodsbally.

Any suggestions? I know this isn't the Wanted section but feel free to pm me if you have something to offer.

Cheers.

Firstly, if you're looking into buying a first gun, DONT buy 2nd hand. Mainly because you get various things that you wouldnt get from buying 2nd hand -

  • Warranty
  • Help from the company you got off (E.g: tech help, parts, etc)
  • Proof of purchase
If you're insisting on getting a Co2 powered gun, I'd say go for a 2008 Spyder Electra, but get a Co2 tank that has an Anti-Siphon tube in it, so it doesnt suck the liquid Co2 out of the tank and into your gun.

Or, if you want, you could get a Smart Parts Vibe, awesome gun for what it is, but it can only go at 11bps, so its not really a gun that you will have for long. When you start to get into torni's and stuff you need to fire a lil bit faster. Also, this gun has a venting system in the reg, so if you do get liquid Co2 into your gun, you're not as ****ed as you would be.

Get your gear in a package, and remember, spend more to start off, dont go buying some crappy mask and hopper in some package. I'd say go with LiPS paintball, they can hook you up with some bloody amazing shizzle.

Good luck,
SJ ;)

Thanks. I've been using my own mask for about a year now.
Like I said, it doesn't have to be able to use CO2, it's just an afterthought.

Thats not a bad deal really, but I hoping for something a little better for a little cheaper. I will probably buy preowned to be honest. And I have mask and gloves, although a CO2 tank and a basic hopper will always be useful.

Justpaintball are doing a deal where you get a Proto SLG UL for £110. Would this be an ideal starting marker?

this might help...

and maybe this:
have you looked at the smart parts vibe? that can use co2 and air and can be used for woodsball or air ball if you look it up on you tube you can find some reviews on it... but if you are willing to spend a little more the slg would be better.
