Go Ball Deep!!!
You cant go too wrong with that to be honest...

First of all, Depends what type of paintball you want to play....

If you want a good all rounder, it should do you fine...

If you want to try your hand at tourney..
A Smart Parts ION would be a great choice....

If your well into scenario, then get yourself an A5
(preferably a kit deal on a Second Hand one as
A5's are great when upgraded, but cost a lot
to do so...)

i usually advise new players to get them selves sorts out with a decent set of goggles before they go shopping for a gun......theres nothing wrong with playing retal a few times before you buy....dont be afraid to ask players if you can shoot their gun, ive yet to meet one who said no. try as many as you can before you spend your cash

Dont know the price of the Spyder you were thinking of getting, but check out the Smart Parts site, selling an Ion for 122 or something rediculous atm. My friend uses one for woodsball all the time and he has no probs with it what so ever. He jsut gives it a quick clean and a tad of general maintainence after each day and it treats him well.

Then again, someone feel free to whack me on the back of the head ;)

What they meant was are you going to be playing in the woods where you will be crawling about in mud and other assorted crud or speed ball with the big inflatable bunkers.

Generally the mud and water found in woods ball isnt good for electronics so you dont want to spend all of your money just for your marker to fry itself. However for speed ball you will need the higher rate of fire offered by electronic markers.

However there are always exceptions and the A-5 is an example of an electronic markers that is ideal for woods ball.
