What sort of paintball are you looking to play? Are you looking at the woodsball and scenario side of things or more at the sup'air/tournament scene?

Well then I guess it depends on personal preference. Combat trousers are perfectly fine, they'll get you though near enough anything, and you can buy hard knee pads if you want a bit more protection/comfort. But the standard paintball pants are just as good and will last a bit longer and most have padding built in, but you will pay a bit more for them. Just depends what you're comfortable in really. Best idea would be to get down to a local site when they have a walk-on day, and get talking to a few people and see what they say. Paintballers are a friendly bunch when you get to know them ;)

No worries mate :) they'll be able to point you in the direction of what else to get as well, and i'm sure people will let you have a play around with their markers as well ;)

I agrre with everything Stephen has said there bud.

Prob with just wearing combats though, is if you get lit up (hit my multiple shots in quick sucession), you will feel it big time.

I prefer to wear a pair of bounce trousers under my combats, to help to protect my lower regions.

Bounce trousers can be brought cheaply second hand either here or on a auction site rhyming with p-day...... ;)

Or, if you really feel like going badass, you can turn up in jeans. That's what I did for about 3 months before I found some playing pants. Ruined the jeans, but they now make good oil rags :)

Bounce trousers/slide shorts are a good investment though. I, for one, have been shot multiple times in that region. It hurts, espcially on the inner thigh.

I have played woods ball for many years and have always worn camo pants, but i have worn a good paid of padded knee protectors under them, not so much to divert the paintballs but rather to protect my knees from the ground and other sharp things. If you do go down the camo pant route make sure you get proper ex forces pants rather than thin cotton fashion pants as they wont last long in the woods.

Just bought my first pair of proper paintball pants off here and they do have a lot more padding than the camo pants and if you keep an eye on the sales forum then there are some good deals to be had.

As a bit of advice it is far more important you get a good set of goggles that fit your face.....People will have brands they prefer BUT they all fit and fell different, Spend the money on the mask and then the rest slowly !

Combats are fine but like whats been echoed wear some knee pads and maybe something underneath ! have fun bud
