Hi all, been thinking of giving paintball a go for a while now and trying to learn as much as i can before i jump in, some things are confusing me though and i'd like to pick your brains.

First off is fps, obviously means foot per second, but can you change this on a marker easily, To go higher you may need upgrades but what if you need to go lower, a site near me will only allow upto 170fps. Is it a case of turning a knob on the tank so that it lets less air in or............. ?????

This is probably a really stupid question but i'm going to ask it anyway. Air bottles, am i right in thinking that the bottles are refillable, ie: mosts sites and gun shops will do it? What are the average prices for filling? And when playing on a site, although using your own gun you still have to pay quite a bit more for paint, is the co2 free/included in the price or do you have to pay for it?

Angel system, everybodys talking about it but nobody mentions what it dose!!!
Is it a special tank or something that regulate the air or what?

Walk on, is this a site letting you use your own guns and own paint with less regulations (fps etc)?

Lastly (horrah) are there many sites in the essex area that are just for playing paintball! So you can turn up with your own equipment and pay like a days rent to use the facilitys?
Call me a tight basted but i don't fancey paying £50 for a 1000 paintballs and a happy meal whenever i want to go!! ;)

Thanks in advance :)

on most guns it is quite simple to turn the velocity (FPS) down but ofcourse its a case some are simpiler than others but for some u can get upgrades fro: example the WGP auto cocker, to tur the velocity up or down you would have to take the cocking knob out but with a rex dialer kit its so much simpler simple pick up an allen and turn the screw either clockwise or anti clock wise to adjust velocity.

Air bottles are refillable, although most site will allow you to refill some charge a nominal fee of around £2-4, some sites will let you fill for free, some wont.

angel AIR, is just a botle reg and bottom line, the only difference is its digital instead of mechanical so its meant t give you options on out pressure etc etc.

walkons are basiclly days for fun when people go down to meet other players and have a bit of fun, some let u use your own paint others dont. but most f them u are allowed to use your own gun

again depends on which site you go to, but paint will always be expensive unless its a walkon or you play tournie, its how sites make the majority of their money

ye if you just go to a regular day at a sight, and they don't let you bring your own paint, they can charge up to 4-5p a ball! now thats REALLY expensive. So your best off trying to go to a walk on rather than a regular day at a site.

If your looking for equipment then look in the classfields section. The second hand market is really cheap at the mo so get buying. And also if your looking for a cheap, fast, reliable really sweet gun try looking for the 'smart parts ion'.

Hope this helps!

Ye it is really easy to change your volocity on my angels i just turn a allan key in the front regulator. Plus just to let you know your gun should not be shooting over 280fps so dont why ur ssite have it so low at 175fps.

air fills are easy if your go to a walkon it useally free or if the site have hpac you get 4500 fills allday

one of the things that hasnt been said bout angel air aswell is it has a lcd screen for all the options on it plus digital reed out to tell you how mush air you have left and roughly how many shots left in the tank

prices on paint will be cheaper on walkons aswell like £30 a box of desent paint compaird to £120 a box of crap on a punter day but sites have alot of fees like wages rent etc to pay for.

Thanks for your help everyone :)

Yea the fps is a bit lame, if i remember rightly the site i was looking at were using standard tippmans.

As for the classifieds i'm been daydreaming about certain guns on there for days, namley the imp Glen Carrot has for sale, just a shame i'm a typical bloke and not even started the crimbo shopping yet, so its a no go!!

Prices are great though :D

If you're from essex you'll probably be able to go to walkons at paintballextreme in tendring, near colchester. theres an add bout them in the recball forums, next day is this sunday (11th) - dont know if you can make it or not but its a great way to play, £15 greenfee, all air/co2 refills free, hot lunch, paint for sale there or bring your own. Day normally works out at £40 for me, thats with a box of 2000. Come on down some time and play, this week theres some new players booked in I believe, so dont be intimidated. Speak to Chuck about it for more info, hes on the forums and hes a top bloke.

for the record id like to say fps should never be over 300 fps as this would make it illegal. At most places its 280fps and at rec days i think they turn it down a little more. Are you sure it wasnt 270fps at your local site. There are some stckies on here that explain a lot about guns and ar etc.
