New SP8 Barrel

Good afternoon people.

I have recently purchased myself an Smart Parts SP8. I've played with it a few games now and I am looking to upgrade the barrel on it. I am looking for a new barrel which will extend the range and accuracy of the SP8 over the stock barrel. Does anyone have any recommendations on this?.

I've being looking at the Smart Part SP8 upgrade to a 19" sniper barrel and shroud (anyone tried one of these?)

Alternatively, has anyone manged to find a way of getting an apex barrel to fit an sp8? I've have a look and the apex isn't long enough to fit in the sp8 shroud.

Thanks
Jon

Get a flat ended barrel like a Stiffi and make a couple of turns of eletrical tape on the last 2 inches. Then screw the Apex shroud down so it clamps down on the tape. Voila! Apex fronted barrel. You'll get the range but not the dip or hook shots.

do not change

Well I use my smart parts freak set with a 19inch aa front and its good but you don’t get the nice twang with it.

The stock barrel is fab 9/10 do not change it ok the freak is for sup air and not the woods

Ok, I'll not bother with a freak kit. I agree though that the stock barrel is very good; much better than normal stock barrels. What about the sniper barrel specifically for the SP8 - i could really do with testing one to see the difference.

As for your suggestion Darkwerks. I'm interested to get a bit more information on how to do this. I've seen someone with an apex on an sp8 before and he could do the dip and curve shots but I wasn't able to ask him how he did it

The tsape mod is really easy. Basically, take the Apex front shroud apart and look inside it and at the barrel end. You should see that the barrel end has a thick tip ( oe er!) to it which fits into the Apex shroud. You replicate this tip shape on your flat non-flared barrel with some electrical tape. it's about 2 inches long. Then screw the Apex front down so it clamps down tight and job's a good 'un!
Alternatively ....

you can also buy a custom delrin adaptor http://www.hotshotpaintball.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=UMS-APEX-ADAPTER&Category_Code=

I have the longer 18" sniper barrel shroud for the sp8. It rocks mate, its not silent or much quieter but the shots are superb. Im getting the range of a flatline with mine and the speed of the ion. The best part is with the sp8 its so versatile, if you play sniper, you can snipe, heavy support with the speed, or the maneuverability of the rifleman.
The shot consistancy is superb even flat out firing.
Im hitting more targets with this than any other marker ive owned.
