You've been able to get different mAh rechargeable batteries for a while for digital cameras...found this: http://malektips.com/digital_camera_battery_0007.html

I think i remember the problem being that they don't hit quite the same peak voltage (e.g. 9v's were 8.something) and the hoppers didn't like this but i'm not sure and this might just have been the cheaper ones...i have quite a few aa's but as my hopper takes 9v's i haven't been able to test them...

I think halos are quite flexible with voltages - I reckon they'll take 8.5v upwards, and I'm sure I've seen somewhere an over-charge kit which supplies like 9.5V to the halo to get it to spin faster?

Rechargeables are 1,2 v each, and normal ones are 1,5 v. When fresh from the charger the rechargeables will have a peak voltage around 1,45 v, but will quickly drop to around 1,2 v.

6*1,2 V = 7,2 V

The Halo tells you to change batteries around 8,4 V, I think.
