New product help....

Right, atm its just an idea but I've though of a new type of lanyard, with a new design to make life alot easyier on the player in those tight spots, how do I find out that someone else doen't already make/have this design within the UK and what things do I need to do before I can start making/selling this product?

I know what I need to make it and I can get the parts that I need with ease, apart from one, that I might need to search for .

Any help would be great, and I should have a prototype in test fairly soon

But yeah...Patents office would be a good start...
There is a sort of association for Inventors (not like nerdy) but they may be able to help you with things like that, searching for bits and pieces, Patenting your idea, marketing etc...
