Is it better to buy better Gear or Basic gear but play more often in to start with?

For example I can spend £100 on a used Proto PM8 marker and get some cheap hopper that will give me 20bps and a 3000 air tank and just get out there and pleay having extra 100-200 for games

or i can but an ego 5 or etec 2 for 160-200 but then it will be more difficult for me to maintain and i might have to buy new parts which will be difficult to get for models as old as ego 5? and i will be left with some money for games...

i think with both of these options i will end up having to buy new gear in a year or two..

i could also buy a brand Latest PM and Brand New hopper and bottle but i will end up paying around 400 if not more and will be left with hardly any money for games and will have to start saving up for each day of playing from scratch...

What are your thoughts on this?

your best bet would probably be to be something yoru comfortable with. so if you want to play more then option A.

You can always upgrade kit as you progress into the sport. by upgrading hopper. air tank etc.

A PM8 for £100 is an absolute bargain, id have the guys arm off if thats what it really is, keeping saving and get a 4500 psi fibre wrap tank, your only wasting your money getting an aluminium one, and buy a good hopper that you WONT ever want to upgrade, stretch to a rotor or prophecy if you can, if it means you cant play then save your cash up and work on your core fitness, explosive strength drills, upper leg strength etc etc
Then you will already be halfway to being a good player

When I first started I got the bottom end equipment, I massivly regretted that a month or two down the line.

Aim for the upper midrange for equipment, they will be the stuff which still have lots of support for them range from around 2009 onwards if your looking for a new gun.

I would personally say get new pads, but as for jerseys, playing pants and goggles your pretty much all good to get them all second hand :)

I agree with Potter Loki if your sure you like it and want to be serious don't waste you money buying things like an aluminium bottle cus u'll just want to upgrade straight away! get a good hopper (Rotor) and 4500psi Carbon fibre bottle and then that PMR 8 they are reliable as hell and cheeeeppp at £100 but your marker can only shoot as fast as your loader so get a good one no point having a brand new ego and a hopper that only feeds 5bps lol.....:D

Who is selling a PM8 for £100!!! That is a bargin

I would pretty much agree with everyone aswell. I used a PM8 for a while it it kept going and going and is just as good as the high end markers if looked after. Def get a good hopper and wouldnt touch a aluminium if possible

pro-tip will save money in the long run, get the best air tank and hopper you can for the moment, and just play, your better having a good air tank and hopper as they will fit on any gun from tipmans upto dye nt's angels, ego's ect , i bought a prophecy and a steel tank the propechy works fine im using it on an etek 3 and will be using it on a mac-dev clone soon, but iv just had to fork out another 70 quid for a 2nd hand carbon tank.....
buy the essentials worry about the gun later. just keep playing and get the kit as you go :)
