New or used?

On the verge of going into getting a marker, pending the newbie day at northern quarter and if i stand a chance of making it as a paintballer!

what would you recommend, getting a used marker or buying new?

if i got new it would most likely be an ion, if not, id pick anything around the £200-300 mark which looked in good condition.

the eclipse shop is down the road, so buying new would give me a warranty with them which would help me get used to the insides of the marker (espec since ions are apparently tough to strip as a newbie)

however, if i found a good used marker for 200-300, would it be worth getting?

how old would be the oldest you would go for that price range?

how likely would i feel ripped off? due to bugs in the marker as well as overall condition?

just need to know how reliable second-hand buying is, as well as what markers in that price range would be a good investment.

have you ever noticed how 7/8ths of the posts in this forum start with "i know this is a stupid question, but...." its still a valid question guys :) relax!

Personaly with 200-300 quid i'd go for a 2nd hand angel, You can get a 05 speed for that, they are very up to date, look swish, fast as crap off a shovel and great tech support, WDP, LiPS and The spitfire guys can service them and would do a great job.

If you bought new then your range would be ion/wrath/promaster for tourney ball but 2nd hand you can pic up a £1000 marker that is less than a year old for a quarter of the price.

Welcome to the world of shiney stuff :)

Ions are easy to strip ever as a newbie, just read the manual first.

For that money you could get a nicely upped ion or as Wrath said an angel.

My opinion i would defo buy second hand, buy from a recognized guy/gal of these forums and you will know it has been looked after.

Whatever marker you buy dont feel worried about stripping it down you have more help on these forums than anywhere else, well good help anyways.

LOL! id prefer a new orifice to an old one, they dont dry up so much!

i was just worried as im not sure how fast technology is moving in paintball, as say if i bought an angel speed or something thats like 1-2 years old, would a new marker of the same price do just as well? just worried id buy something which chops like a mofo compared to todays markers, or, its trigger system and software would be so out of date that itd be hard to get high BPS.

or would getting a second hand marker get me a better marker totally? like, a second hand one will always be better than a new marker of the same price?

i have a nack for fixing stuff, i fix/upgrade my mates computers for free every week. i was just worried id break a stupid part like the solenoid when i was tinkering, then have to fork out for a new board or send it to an airsmithsince i dont know exactly what the sensitive bits are! :D though i guess having someone whose played with it SAY its not bad will put my mind at rest.

im just thinking, going into tourney, everyone seems to ditch their new bought marker for something better within a year, if i got a second hand, id be able to knock it around without feeling guilty as well as save myself the hassle of upgrading as soon as i realise my marker is insignificant to my opponents.

Personally I would recommend you try and get 05 ego for about the £375 mark and then go from there. your right next to the main headquarters, why would you want anything else. If you feck it up tinkering with it, at least your only ten minutes away from the guys who built it in the first place. can you think of anyone better to tell you the error of your ways and how to make it better.;)
