Can anyone offer me some advice please.
I've been out of paintball for about a year and its time to make the plunge again and buy a marker, now i'm thinking about either a Speed 05, a DM5/DMC or an Ego.
I know that everyone will have their own preferences but what i'm looking for is a quick, light marker thats fairly easy to maintain and that doesn't required you to be a brain surgen to repair simple faults (as you can see i'm a technophobe!).
Any help would be greatly apprecitated

Cheers

Well... For all the points you chose I would go for a Shocker.
Fast, accurate, low maintenance, small, light... And cheaper than the others gats you listed.
But if you insist on it being one of the ones you listed... Then I'd say the Ego :)

All three of those markers are quick and light and equally accurate.

The Dm5/DMC markers will require slightly more maintinence than the Speed or the Ego.

The speed is the cheapest and i think its better looking than the Ego.....

Really you should try them all out for yourself and ignore the people who blatantly favour a certain gun just because they own one...

And definately ignore the guy above who says get a shocker... ewww shockers ;):p

"Awww don't listen to the nasty man" *hugs Shocker*

I know it doesn't show how a Shocker is better than other gats... But look at all the pro teams using them ;)
(and no I'm not one of those sad fantical people who only buy guns cos a pro is using them ;) )

same goes for the other markers,

angels are great. minimal maintenance, and very quick. needs a fast loader though to get the best out of it.

ego comes standard with planets wonderful customer service and again very quick indeed.

i have a fly at the minute and would have traded for an ego, but i think i will keep the fly and buy an ego as well

Having been though most markers lol i really would recomend trying before you buy.
As all of the markers you are gona be looking at will be quick and accurate, so what ur looking at is weight, customer service, and possibly resale value.

As your located in berkshire i would go for the angel. Purely because your a technophobe and London Paintball Supply who are angel techs are driving distance (bout an hour) from you. So if anything was to happen that you couldnt fix you can sort it in a weekend possibly and not have to ship stuff to manchester. I think dye uk are in croydon but not sure. And if you are willing to fork out for a DMC go for an Angel G7. Mine rocks! I also have an eclipse cocker so i can vouch for planets customer service which is second to none, same with LPS. Both very helpful.

Try before you buy is the best advice.

How much is your total budget???, Do you need air, hopper, mask etc..??

A secondhand speed and the air etc, would be around the same as a ego by itself.

Have you thought about an "ion", you could by a new one with a warrenty and all the above for alot less........

questions, questions.........as for whats best, my first comment sums it up.

I agree with John the DMs require a little more maintenence than the others but thankfully with Dye opening their european branch down near Croydon, its alot easier than passing my marker across the pond like with my AKAs.

I just got my DM4, and the last 2 days Jason and the crew down there have been golden to me - spot on customer support.

None of the markers need super amounts of attention so iwould personally go for what you know - all 3 guns feel very different from each other so i would suggest you either going by your past experiences with markers or better still turn up at a tourney and ask to use people markers - only one you may have trouble finding is a DM5-DMC - There are plenty of DM4s witch is technically the same marker as the DM5 (well firing wise i know someone gonna try and jump on and prove me wrong)

Hope this helps
