Hi,
I'm saving to get a new barrel and i need some opinions.
I'm either going to get a 16" or an 18" barrel so my friends and fellow players all say I should get a 2-piece for Hyperball. I was going to get a one piece (Smart Parts Big Daddy) and I was thinking of getting a 2-piece (Dye Boomstick).
Any suggestions?

If you can afford it I would get the Freak system. It means you can match the bore size of the Barrel to the size of the paint your using on the day. It's a much better way of doing things than buying a load of different barrels.

Bore size means internal diameter, the same thing as caliber. This is important because paint size varies slightly, and those variations can make a difference. Generally, most paint runs around what is called medium size, which is between .687-.691, which can be satisfied by a .688 or .689 barrel, the most common size. A Freak or CP Pro kit allows for adaptation for conditions where paint size varies considerably: different brands, humid/hot or cold conditions, altitude variations, etc. You of course don't have to get a full kit, really, just a regular barrel and a small (like .684-.685) and large bore (.693-.695) for a little less.

Additional advantage of a Freak or similar barrel system is that if you change your marker you don't need another whole barrel, you just need to buy a new back. You can also just swap the fronts over if you like playing with different barrel lengths depending on the field type.

Oh,and DON'T GET AN 18" BARREL! It is just too long, making it too much trouble to clean, a hinderance to staying behind your bunker effectively, puts your gun off balance, may actually decrease accuracy, uses too much gas, doesn't fit well in most gear boxes, and will cause you to be the objects of lots of jokes. 16" is pushing it most of the time; 12-14" is the best functionally for most play, and 10" for really tight play.

Good point there KillerOnion, especially as unknown_evil345 specifies that he's looking at playing Hyperball fields. I play back with a 14 inch & have no problems on any arena type field & it's so much easier to get in tight with a slightly shorter barrel.

Freak. The paint can vary so much in size that I've used 4 different inserts just on Blaze since December! Plus I do get a particularly good deal from Smart Parts. The Infinity that came with my Dark Angel was pretty cr@p (think I just managed to get a particularly bad one) & I got constant breaks in it, but only get them in the Freak if the paint is dodgy.
