You only need to adjust it on the original vision boards with the two dials/pots on the right side. Crickets (blue light) will self-calibrate.

To adjust the eye, first disconnect the air system and remove any paint. Fire it through to make sure the bolt does not cycle.

Put the hopper on (to prevent stray light coming down the feedtube), put a ball into the breach and leave the bolt open.

Select the middle position on the switch at the back (yes, there's a middle position!)

Rotate the eye-pot all the way to the right (clockwise)

Now rotate it back until the light on the back goes yellow.

If you have two-tone paint, repeat with the ball facing the other way - use the left-most setting if they differ.

Put the switch back to the left to set it to vision-on mode.

That's it.

To be honest though, I don't think I've ever had to touch mine... but it's useful to know how to do it ;)

But if you have a (blue light) cricket board and the eye won't read your paint.....you're screwed. Your options to fix it are:
1) Turn eye off and use a decent hopper and live with only shooting a max of 13bps
2) Look at buying a WAS board, they are sposed to have a rather good eye logic that will solve your problems. There be another thread knocking about to sort you out.

Supposedly the WAS eye is not your typical reflecting beam, but more akin to the sensor on a computer mouse. It allegedly reports back texture differences, and so will not close on a partially fed ball.

"Supposedly" and "allegedy" because I am going from what J. Drew said, and I don't take any of that without a grain of salt.

One word: bullcrap. But of course, you probably already know that ;) There is no question that the logic and the eye itself on the WAS board are better than the stock vision, but it's still just a pretty normal reflective IR detector.

Yes Rabies is correct that is complete rubbish.

Optical mice have a large amount of memory and the same imaging chip as you find in most digital cameras.

Are they gonna put these chips (easily more expensive than the rest of the WAS board put together) on the board just for the benefit of the poor fools still stuck with reflective eyes?
